Sorry disappoint - probably not what you're expecting!

Has anyone found a neat, sensible and most importantly effective way of keeping the shopping - or the picnic basket below 300 degrees when in the boot of a Vantage?

With the gearbox so close, mine gets very warm indeed and the chardonnay tends to spoil at those temperatures!!

Problem 1) Don't go shopping with the Aston.

Problem 2) Get a DC-powered cooler for the liquids.

Look at it as a feature, buy a fresh chicken and by the time you get home you have a roast :-)

Put the shopping on the shelf behind the seat. Simples.

That made me laugh! Very good!
Boot is always hot, even (more so?) in a Roadster.
I put the expensive wine in the air-conditioned cabin, not much space though!

This is a serious first world problem!
What I did, was to buy some of that silver stuff that they sell in B&Q to go behind radiators (to throw the heat out from the wall).
Trimmed it to fit and stuck it under the carpet.
It is not perfect, but could be the difference betweena beautiful Burgundy and a boiled one!

Thanks Mac355,

Good idea. If I can't find a solution I shall have to wait for winter and bring out the mulled wine I suppose!

I bought a Mobicool chiller box. It powers from the 12v socket in the boot but also has a 240v charger so you can pre-chill it or when travelling I just bring it into the hotel room and plug it in so it's great for day or weekend use. The one I bought was around £50 and available from caravan/camping shops.

I can't remember the last time I went shopping for food. The nice chaps from Waitrose deliver it every Sunday evening. How very council...

I'd recommend lining the boot floor with insulation similar to dynamat. At least you'll be able to refit the carpets without too much hassle, keeping everything neat as it should be.
