Bonnet Open message
Discussion
Afternoon gents.
I've had this error message popping up sporadically over the last two weeks on my 2006 V8V. Now, it's popping up everyday and the frequency is increasing to a couple of times a day. Given the use of the car, it may actually be on constantly.
The bonnet is never open so I've oiled the hinge mechanism and checked that the release catch actuates as it should. As it's still happening, I'm guessing there's a plunger and sensor somewhere that is at fault.
Before I start stripping the car down, can anyone advise where it may be or what could possibly be at fault?

had the same problem a few weeks ago, turned out to be the switch on the bottom of the bonnet catch.
I got a new one from Aston martin bits, i think it was about 10 or 12 pounds, it's actually a ford part.
I will say it was a bit of a fiddle to get out and replace but if your good on the oily bits you can do it.
Cheers Simon.

Hi, I had this issue a while ago and if the link works, this is how you access the switch.

Hope this helps.

Just a quick follow up to this. I disconnected the connection to the switch (whole job took 10 minutes overall once I realised I could access the release tab from the catch mechanism aperture) but I still have warning showing.
Out of nowhere, I got the low battery warning message so it appears to be the old 'tired battery' scenario. It register 14.3 volts on tickover so I've put my heavy duty charger on overnight in an effort to resolve it.
Hopefully, I can go out for a drive tomorrow without the incessant noise and functioning wipers.

Bump, because mine's just started doing this ! I can see the microswitch but can't easily get to it, so I just doused it with contact cleaner then spray grease and - for now - it's OK.
Has anyone got the Ford part number ? I can get to the local Ford place quite easily during the week.

I had the gaiter on the switch ripped on my Vanquish so renewed with a ford part. However the contacts on the switch for fords (which looks identical externally) are the other way around to the Aston's. One are NO and the are NC. I cant remember which is which. Fortunately I only needed it for the gaitor so I fitted the insides of my old switch to the new body.
Quick update for the benefit of anyone coming across this in the future.
After a slight hiccup I received the new switch today. The old one had FoMoCo part number 2W93-19A434-BA. The new one is 2W93-19A434-BC. It looks identical and works too ! Aston part number on the box is CG43-37-11336.
I didn't remove the crossmember etc. but with the big cover off and the rad fans out (2 nuts & 2 electrical connections) I was able to wiggle things about and get it done.

Apolgies to resurrect an old post but I have been getting the bonnet open message occasionally until today when it stayed on
The problem is you can't open the roof or operate the screen wipers with it on
I removed the front bonnet cover and unbolted the lock mechanism. There's a swith attached to it with TWA branding on it. Clearly one of the two plastic fasteners was broken so when the lock touches the spring flap it doesn't push the little button telling it the bonnet is closed
I just broke the spring and made the button permanently pushed and that solved this annoying message
