I've been looking at replacing the coil packs on my 2005 DB9 as the idle wasn't smooth so I think the car had a small misfire.

I had a topic going recently about trying to get cheaper coil packs as I refuse pay £55 plus for AM coil packs and I've done some research and thanks to a DB9 owner in the US who has installed some ignition coils from a 2002 Lincoln 3.0 V6 I found some cheaper from eurocar parts for a 2003 Jag S Type 3.0 V6 petrol as they share the same engine.

Well today I started the job -

I depressurised the fuel system,
Disconnected the battery.
Removed the strut braces and centre cover.
Removed the throttle bodies
Removed the fuel injector rails and injectors
Removed the inlet manifolds
Removed the coil pack covers
Removed the ignition coils
Removed the spark plugs
Installed new spark plugs
Installed new ignition coils, I refitted the old rubber boots and spring, they fit perfectly and the 2 pin connector fits also.
refitted the coil pack covers.

Tomorrow I'm looking at replacing the PCV valves then inlet manifolds etc.

I still don't know if this will work, but everything looks good so far.

Now, originally I purchased a set of 12 HAAS coil packs but they didn't look very good so I ordered a set of 12 NGK coil packs and they looked exactly the same as the old AM coils, more expensive I know but I think worth it.

So parts cost, total £710, plus a few tools I didn't have and a 1/4 torque wrench, a must have, so not bad I think.

I'll be ready to start up either tomorrow or Tuesday and i'll let you know if the coil work ok.

Completed the job today and the engine runs great, no problems with the Jag coils from eurocar parts.

Car tickover is nice and smooth, really happy.
