This might sound a little stupid but I am curious to know if the Vantage has a rev limiter like most normal cars. The reason for asking is there was a Vantage and R8 in an underground car park last night and the drivers were revving them up as far as they would go. The Audi sounded like it was "bouncing" on the rev limiter but the Aston seemed to drop off for a few seconds.

Also would this be logged in the ECU like the Porsche system of logging high revs?

Yes I think its about 7200rpm. The 3 shift lights will light up first then it will just kill power if you hold at the limit. Not sure if its logged or not, wouldnt be surprised if it was...

Ahh, I do miss the Porsche Rev Range threads in the Porsche section when I had my C4S.

I'm glad Aston don't take too much notice or bother to, of any data stored in relation to over-revs'. Whilst its not a good idea to do it, many a warranty claim has been refused by Porsche over rev range limits being exceeded.

Hitting the revlimiter from time to time is not a problem i guess.

It's a high revving huge V8 for god's sake smile

Unless you hit it constantly, or keep revving it for seconds and seconds, I don't thing it will hurt the car that much... ?

This was 2 guys standing half in, half out their cars and pressing the accelerator down for 5-10 seconds at a time.

The unmarked "redline" is 7300, and I believe the limiter cuts in just above that.
