Can anyone help me with this please:

On my v8 vantage 2007 roadster I got an "emission system service required" warning and downloaded the following codes:

Now the warning is gone but I have no idea what, if any, action to take- does anyone know how to find out what these codes mean?

It seems a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!

I think these are categories rather than fault codes (DTCs: diagnostic trouble codes)....a quick Google would suggest that 7E8 is for the engine and 7E9 is for the transmission. As I understand it, if there's actually a fault in relation to either you should be able to the menu and select it to give a P code such as P0XXX or P1XXX, which will give you more of a steer. Hope that helps!

I'm happy to be corrected but 'emission service required' faults can't be read/reset by the standard eBay type reader that you or I can normally buy. Most often it relates to an O2 sensor, it can however be a sign of something more serious. If it goes off and doesn't come back, you'll likely be ok. If it returns, then get it checked by your preferred dealer/Indy, they'll be able to diagnose and advise accordingly.

I can read and reset them with the £12 Bluetooth OBD doodah I have (along with my phone), it's one of these:

Mine sometimes comes on if I drive like an old granny (tootling around at 1500 revs or so) - it does turn itself off, but got fed up of waiting so bought one of these.

I agree tootling about seems to clog up the 02 sensor so go out and give it some beans.

If it can be reset then good, just make a note of the code and date so if it happens again you can have a record of when and what has happened.

Thanks, looks like maybe I had to drill down another level to get the code itself - I'll wait for it to return (or not, in which case I guess it's fine!)
