Used mine today for the first time since I bought the car , just got me thinking about how well engineered it is and very tactile to touch .

Never noticed it before , just shows the attention to detail there is on the car.

Anything else I've missed on a similar vein ?

there was a fab, tactile oil screw 'cap' under the bonnet in turned metal from memory on my V8, it's plastic on my later V12 Vantage

back of the door pull where you grab the door closed feels like alcantara which I imagine is a pretty rare touch amongst cars these days

it's obviously visible and does;t actually work that well, but of course the metal cupholder thingy is pretty tactile and again, unusual in that I don't recall ever seeing cupholders in any other car that aren't pure plastic - i;m guessing perhaps Rolls Royce and maybe the upmarket Bentleys don't use plastic either ?

Having said all that, I'd prefer they had spent the money on less low rent stalks, headlamp switches & electric seat switches (I assume stalks on DB11 are merc derived ? And seat switches were changed on all models other than vantage a few years ago)

I agree the visors are tactile and beautiful and all that, but I would not call them well engineered because imho their function is a total fail. When I'm driving towards a setting sun I have to sit up and crane my neck to get the sun out of my eyes. This is the only car I've owned where I had that problem. I rather suspect they were created by a designer, not an engineer :-)

Totally agree.

Ref the door pulls, agree on that too - great use of materials. My Granturismo has alcantara door pulls and the material really makes an interior feel special when well executed (just need to banish ideas of getting the headlining done like my old V8V - another nice feature - to avoid wallet leakage).

Yep. another +1 on that. In fact, when I saw the title and opened the thread I expected it to be about how useless they were!
My 360 has a lovely, well engineered, very pretty oil filler cap made out of metal. Really handy on a car that needs to be fully hot to check the oil level.

Oh how very cheap.

You will be telling us next Jonby, that you also don't have that beautiful stainless steel, dry sump oil tank, underneath the tactile oil screw cap in turned metal. - smile

We are still waiting for your special personal announcement.
I think you might be taking over from Mr. Minards, now that he is helping with those over priced, over-engineered vacuum cleaners, and the hopeless noisy hand dryers.

Do you know something I don't ? :-)

I don't think they would employ me at AML - I have more attention to detail than they do

I thought they were pretty great until I saw the ones in an original Vanquish. Never seen anything like those in any car. They are large, rigid, curved items covered in Alcantara, and are at least 1/2" thick, maybe more. Quite amazing. I'm sure they wouldn't meet today's safety standards.
