I've googled V8 Vantage engine failure and can't seem to find that many, but just wanted to put my mind at ease before I potentially go ahead with a purchase in the near future

This poor individual had a hard time, plus the dealer in question is my local (and only) dealer, located no more than 4km/2.5 miles from My front door

He basically had a complete engine failure after mere months of ownership and was initially quoted over $50,000 to fix it by the dealer

http://aussieexotics.com/forum/cars/engine-failure...

I can't find many other similar horror stories so am
I right in assuming he was one of the unlucky few ?

Head is telling me to stick with me 911 but the Aston is calling out to my heart BIg time

Thanks

Well considering how may Vantages have been sold worldwide and thats the only horror story you can find, id say its a safe bet.

Buy one and stop worrying. On the other hand, If you cant stop worrying about owning an expensive car, then dont buy one until you can afford one so easily you dont give a damn and just enjoy it wink

I think you would find a much more worrying history of 911 engine failures than you would of the Vantage V8 lump...

Quite so. AM engine failures are very rarely heard of.

Thank you. I was probably (definitely) just scaring myself.

Went to see a few examples local to me this morning so the hunt continues

Whoever you ask you will be told that the V8 engine is very reliable and failures are rare. FWIW I have asked my dealership this question and the only one they have dealt with was a car that had been driven through a flood. Even that didn't need a full replacement engine apparently. Sleep easy owning a V8V.

Just shook hands on MY14 V8 Coupe Sportshift. Has the 1000W B&O System but I think I'll be listening to that V8 more ...
Still trying to digest

My dealer told me the same. The V8's and the later DB9's are very reliable. The only model in the Aston range that is a bit 'awkward' is the Rapide they told me.

Funny if you think about it... For years Porsche was know as the reliable sportscar. But in reality, they aren't. And Ferrari's and especially Aston Martins were know as pieces of sh!t.

The only thing Porsche has are more reasonable servicing costs. But when they break down a lot, you are better off with a Ferrari of Aston.

Im not normally one to worry but I think I just had a moment.

Yes engine failures can happen but guess thats true of anything mechanical so I plan to just enjoy my new purchase and look after her

Err, exact same engine as DB9 and DBS from first Rapide in 2010 till 2013. Then 2013 on bigmouth 'Rapide S' has same higher output variable valve timing V12 engine as all other 2013 on Astons! Change your dealer! 'Awkward' indeed! furious

Congrats on ya v8, where are the pics!!!!!! I've got a Aston and a 911, the porsche is on 165k still going strong. Both good cars. If they break get them fixed but don't worry about it. ENJOY !
