A Black roof tail!!
Discussion
Hi all,
For ages now I have wanted a black roof on the Vantage.
I looked at a few and thought it was the way to go.
So I booked in to have a gloss vynal wrap roof done. Nothing wrong with the way it was installed it just looked terrible!! VERY orange peely. My perception of the vynal over paint was far higher or so i thought. Within a week the vynal was removed (with a fair bit of the paint) and it was down to the body shop to have it done properly.
Picked it up this afternoon and it now looks great!
Lesson here : Dont waste money on Glass black vynal, it will look crap compared to proper paint.

I think you must have gone to the wrong place to get your wrap done.
I had a partial "Gulf" wrap done for our trip to Le Mans this year and the finish was brilliant and it came off again without a mark to the paintwork.

Sorry to hear the trouble you had and the expense to rectify. Did you get the opportunity to examples of their work prior to having yours done? I'd be interested to see pictures as I've always thought that the roofline would look even lower on the lighter coloured cars with a black roof.
Lord Bret,
I never got the chance to compliment you on your Livery for Le Mans, when I saw it in the flesh at Burghley. The Gulf colours has always been my favourite scheme. I can't do that with a black car

Thank you Dave - it was only intended for Le Mans but it looked so good I left it on for a while. Back to normal now with no ill effects from the wrap. Not sure what I'll do for the 24 Heures next year though I never got the chance to compliment you on your Livery for Le Mans, when I saw it in the flesh at Burghley. Hi all,
Yes ill post a pic when its daylight and can get a good shot.
I think its because i chose gloss black - the worst colour? If it was more satin or even Carbon!!! im sure it would have looked a whole lot better.
It was the laquer that came off in some places but think my car has had some work before I owned it. The roof section was sanded back revealing only one colour coat then masked and painted black.
I still need to re fit the rear arial that I plan to do at the weekend.
They made a real nice job of masking - looks as good as what AM would do in house

I loved the little sticker on the bumper along the lines of 'Limited to 300kph - Please pass on the Left'

Northernmedia
I think you could have the sticker 'Limited to 330kph Pass on left - IF YOU CAN'

This looks like a terrific quality wrap. Please can you advise where it was done?I had a partial "Gulf" wrap done for our trip to Le Mans this year and the finish was brilliant and it came off again without a mark to the paintwork.

Mark - just Google or look on Facebook for South West Tinting - if you contact them, ask to speak to James and say Tim recommended them. The wrap itself was brilliant and came off with no problems despite looking a bit "hairy" when coming off.

Thanks for the information and tip, Tim.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
