I am looking to replacing the AM Bridgestones on my 2005 DB9 coupe with Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

The Michelin fronts only come as a 96Y XL, (Bridgestone fronts are 92Y) but when it comes to the rear the Michelin is available in two sizes, one as a 96Y (Bridgestone is a 96Y) or a 100Y XL.

Do I go with the XL on the rear to match the fronts?, or stick with a 96Y non extra load on the rear same as the Bridgestone?

Interested to know what others have done in this situation?

I had the Bridgestone originals on but never felt sure footed to me so ended up getting ;

2 x Michelin Pilot Super Sport 285/35 R19 Y (103), Reinforced, Asymmetrical
2 x Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/40 R19 Y (98), Reinforced, Asymmetrical

Much much better ..... feels planted and sticky .... note also went wider than stock.

Highly recommend.

They're superb tires and really improve the car in my opinion.

Went from SS's back to Bridgestones for who knows what reason. Absolutely hate them. Much stiffer and they seem to grab every rut in the road.

Can't comment from a DB 9 perspective, but replaced the Bridgestones for Michelin PSS on my V8V S & had the geometry tweaked at BR, what a difference!

I have the Xtra Load on the front of my car which wasn't specifically required, but that is all Michelin did to fit. Zero issues. No point exceeding the weight load rating required but no real harm in doing so either - I suspect the sidewall may be very slightly stiffer?

As an aside have had a bad experience with 2 rear PSS on DD BMW - both punctured in first year; front axle remained on Eagle F1's with no punctures No other tyre has ever punctured on the car in 5 years. Its back on Eagle F1's all round now as its an expensive business with the PSS - just driving 300 meters on them to safety kills the inner sidewall and they are written off. No issues on PSS Rapide smile
