Onboard diagnostic computer

I have a 2009 left hand drive (USA) DB9 Volante. I was having some problems with the latch not locking on the tonneau lid. The onboard diagnostic computer indicated a fault on the "passenger side" which in my car would be the right side facing forward. It was later apparent to me that the problem was on the driver's side (left facing forward). Does anyone know if the computer reference to passenger side is based on the English right hand drive arrangement even in exported left hand drive cars?
