Hello all,

Went out for a blast today as it was clear blue skies and dry roads. Ran the Aston in the garage for 10mins or so and then 10 mins of driving through town and a village or two. I then got to the main road and nailed it up to a little bit too fast whereupon the car put itself into neutral and told me it had a gearbox fault, no gear change possible. We coasted into a convenient pub car park and put the roof up straight away (Just in case things got serious). Paddles inoperative, so put handbrake on and switched the engine off, gave a a moment or two, looked skywards and fired it back up, all good, no alarms or warnings.

Wife made me drive straight home like a granny but on the way I did note that the temperature gauge was not 100% horizontal, more 8:30 than its usual 9pm. Must admit I didn't specifically check the temperature gauge before the issue so my question to the knowledgeable is could nailing it when a little cold freak out the gearbox? Never had this issue before - anything I can check to gain a little confidence?

Cheers.

I also have a V8VR (MY 2008 sportshift) and have had the car for 4 years now.
I have had the warning message you mention in the dash appear a couple of times and it seems to be a glitch that just appears very occasionally, although it has always allowed me to continue to drive the car.
The roof module went on mine and it caused haywire with warning messages about all sorts of things (roof module is a common module fail item).
I also had an ABS sensor wiring fault (water ingress) which also caused havoc with the sportshift, only allowing upshifts and no downshifts!!!!!!
The Aston CAN BUS system/network in these cars seems to go haywire if it thinks something is at a fault status (being worse in a sportshift since it is controlled by this system I think)
The strange thing about my roof module failure is that the roof was still operational, but as I say it gave all sorts of other warning messages in the dash.

Cheers for that,

Just replaced the roof module late summer! Hopefully as you say just a glitch, but knocked my confidence a little - I don't really want to get stuck and have to get a truck ride home for me and the Aston! Mrs 66MK would not be impressed!!
