Who Said Astons Couldn't Handle ?
Discussion
Went for a drive with around 50 Porsches today (I was the only non German along with a lone Subaru)
I was Expecting to be left far behind (mainly twisties and some fast sweeping bends) but the Aston happily
Kept up with lots of modern 911's and Caymans.
Although acceleration on my 2014 V8 (Non S and completely Bone stock) wasn't quite breath taking, it
Felt wonderfully balanced and power was more than sufficient
I was expecting it to be worse, and thought I'd been left so far behind
I'm loving this car more and more everyday, and am not regretting my switch from a 911 Turbo one bit yet

I've never driven a Vantage so wouldn't know, but I can say the 2 DB9s I've owned certainly didn't handle! In fact my fat 2.5ton BMW 750 can out handle them! That being said I simply couldn't believe how well my Vanquish handles, quite astonishing and I never thought Aston would be able to make that happen! But it really is an incredible car. I guess poor handling Astons is a thing of the past! Hoping the Vanquish S is just as good!
On the road you cant safely drive near the limits of what these cars can do, so just being on the road (versus race track) is a leveller of performance.
Ive been out on runs before with Lambos, Ferraris etc and Ive been driving a Lotus Elise at the time. Unless its straight line at 140mph plus everywhere, its really difficult for the other cars to display their performance advantage, unless you setup the circumstances at traffic lights for example.
Usually, on the road any visible performance difference is due to driver willingness to take more risk...so I would guess that the drivers you were out with were all of similar mindset with regard to risk and drove accordingly

Yep we were neck and neck up to our top speeds of 30mph 😆 JKay said:
