Key and Tracker Card carrying - how do you do it?!
Discussion
And yeah I've already thought of my pocket
So getting a little excited about picked the V12v up on Saturday, but having come from a 2008 V8v my car key went in the ignition barrel and dangled there with the rest of my keys. However it just occurred to me, the new key sits in the middle of the dash up high, I'm not going to have the rest of my keys dangling and bashing the dash.
So what do you guys do? Carry it separately? Do you end up having your door and car keys on separate rings? A pouch of some sort?
And don't get me on to the tracker card. Any solutions for that? It must be so easy just to forget to either take it out to the car with you or leave it in the car when you get out. Is there a leather pouch that attaches to your keys? That seems like the obvious one.
Sorry for the rubbish questions, I'm in can't wait mode and just want to talk about the car
Although this ^^ is going to bug me so if I can find something online to order.......

I keep my keys separately and actually store it somewhere else in the house completely. The dealer gave me a pouch for the key although I only have a keyring on that.

The idea being that the pouch and tracker should be stored separately. If someone nicks the key they shouldn't have the tracker.
What does everyone else do?

I've since found out that the original AM Tracker that was fitted to my car suffered a fault and was replaced by the Cobra one. Having spoken to Cobra / Vodafone they tell me there is no mobile phone alternative, cards only :/
That's why i mentioned AM trackers, unfortunately the Cobra is a different story. I put the Cobra ones in my wallet when going out. Not ideal but generally can remember which is not bad for me in my old age

Great news & enjoy the day.
Make sure you get a pouch for the sapphire ECU, if you drop it on a hard surface & crack it, it's +/-£1000 to replace!!!! The branded ones aren't cheap (£95) but you can pick them up on eBay for approx £50ish.
Any recommendations on the pouch? There seems to be a number of generic ones on Ebay, it would be good to get one that I know fits and is of a half decent quality.Make sure you get a pouch for the sapphire ECU, if you drop it on a hard surface & crack it, it's +/-£1000 to replace!!!! I'd be telling the dealer I want one thrown in, it costs them pennies i'm sure so I'd really hope they wouldn't make a fuss of it.I put the tracker tag in my wallet and the key goes in one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400939012861
Just rip out the chain thing inside. Its brilliant.

This looks quite good. Space to keep the tracker card too.

Except that the ecu does not have a ring hole.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KS-Mens-Genuine-Leather-...
On the day I collected the V12SR I dropped my key and chipped it before i even started my car.
Since then i seem to drop it about once every 6 weeks and hurriedly pick it up to inspect the latest chips.
When in the dash all i can now read is "AS ON TIN"

They really want us to drop them eh?!
I'm hoping the car will just come with one or HWM will give me one with the car. Been looking back through past threads and the dealer giving a key pouch seems to be relatively common
Don't be shy, I'd just me dropping the salesman a mail saying "I assume i'll be getting a key pouch with it"........puts the onus on him then

When I picked up my Vantage I asked about a key cover and the salesman quoted £99 iirc , I just shook my head and suggested politely that I wasn't expecting to pay for one , he trotted off and gave me a slightly used one from one of his used cars he had for sale .
As for carrying the tracker card , I keep that in my old Porsche leather pouch type key ring.

Apologies for the tedious question - the missus got me an AM ECU pouch for my birthday. The magnet doesn't seem to be particularly strong and very easily opens on its own. Have I got a duff one or is that par for the course with these?!
You're not supposed to be Hulk Hogan in order to open it, but it shouldn't just "fall" open either.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
