A little bit sad the last nine were factory spec meaning they had no buyers frown

Nice! Do you think I could get some slightly higher suspension fitted and get it on a Q plate to get an MOT and make it road legal? smile

Where can you use them? Obviously not on the road and I would've thought they're too loud for most tracks in the UK?

There was a "road legal" SVA pack as an option - about £200k IIRC smile

found it here..http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/exclusive-aston-martin-vulcan-gets-road-conversion-kit

but without a lot of the downforce and super sticky tyres then its "just" an 800bhp road going coupe that looks mental ....mmmm...If I win the lottery tonight I will be buying that from Dick Lovett smile

I'm more interested in the (green?) V12 Zag in the background in the showroom. Can't see it on their site...scratchchin

They have just had there Christmas Do and I think had a few customer cars on display so the Zag could be one of them still there. They had a very nice red Vulcan on display so a surprise to see this one as well.

I was at the dealership in August when this was delivered from the factory for its new owner. IIRC he was considering having it made road legal but obviously didn't proceed - or I may have just got it wrong.

Vulcan VINs are not sequential.

Maybe, but there is obviously something in the statement 'last customer specified Vulcan produced' otherwise, they could just say 'last Vulcan off the line'. The inference is clearly that at least some Vulcans were not customer specified. I agree that it is not necessarily the case that the number is nine.

IIRC, it was a smaller number, around 3 or 4, that were factory specified at the end. Again IIRC, the last few were provisional/conditional sales based on the road legal kit being signed off / made available

I only just manage to drive my DB9 in a sensible fashion so that's probably a no.
Being only suitable for track use I just might have to settle for a One77.
In retrospect, what with that humongous rear spoiler it's probably a bit lairy for me,as you know I like to keep a low profile.

The pity is that with the sound restrictions on UK tracks getting ever more restrictive we will not see these things on many track days either. The odd Silverstone day maybe but environmentalist are really getting the upper hand these days. For that reason alone I have turned my attention to old cars instead as they are all road worthy/legal but have not been fitted with silencers etc. Im currently having the first ever build V8 Vantage Fliptail going through full restoration. Ready for summer 2017. Bring it on !

That sounds like a fun project - any pictures to share?

No asking price shown.

Our understanding, is that the final few new Vulcans took time to sell.

Do you think demand now might be insufficient to obtain a premium?

The new price I recall was £1,500,000 plus £300,000 VAT.

(and Mr. C. tells everyone, put the income tax rate up to 50%, because those earning over £40,000 should pay more tax.)

So.....just shy of £2 mil if you include an AM umbrella.
That's a fair bit of wedge, even for a Captain of Industry like me self guv.
For that money I would go for a DB4 GT Zagato.
Maybe Tony Hall would be in the market if he pulls off another blag like the Brinks Mat jobby.

You;ll be lucky :-)

The last time a Sanction II car sold at the Bonhams annual sale (in 2012 from memory - I was there), it got in the region of £1.2-1.3M. I suspect that would get more like £2M in today's market

A real Zag would I assume get £5-10M today, depending on the exact car, provenance, etc

Well......it wouldn't have to be an exact car and I'm not fussed if it comes from Provence.
Maybe I'd set my sights on a lovely DBR Le Mans recreation like what our friend Bob's having made.

I think the blue one at mecum over the Summer failed to sell (with an estimate that started at the retail price). So presumably no premium at the moment, maybe a reflection of everything mentioned above - it's track only (and noisy).

Maybe they will become more valuable once the road-conversion kit is fully sorted?

Guessing those looking to buy a track only "sanction 2" db4 gt should take note - wonder how much it will take to make those road legal - presumably it's all around frontal crash safety? I would hope that might be easier than on a Vulcan
