Having owned a V12 Vantage roadster which I sold with a small profit and with a new V12 Vantage roadster manual on order, I keep an interested eye on resale values and depreciation.
Seems to me that since the introduction of the manual roadster, the very high resale values have definitely eroded. A year ago any you could find were advertised at £130k plus; now they're £120k and hanging around. Prices at dealers are being reduced constantly.
Makes sense in many ways. The V12 roadster was a very limited edition originally and the S suffered from a very marmite gearbox. Certainly when I bought mine I definitely didn't want an S because of the gearbox so had to pay what i thought was a very high price for a 2 year old car.
Not really a problem; I'm sure all buyers of the new manual version see it as a last chance to own a n/a V12 car with a manual. There just won't be any in years to come.
Is the same thing happening with the coupe?

I think the prices have softened a little maybe due to the re introduction of a manual gearbox in the Vantage. There is certainly more choice out there than there was
this time last year when I was looking. I think they made these cars in sufficiently small numbers that they have a real potential to be future classics.

Well. I think the craze has simmered down, but looking in Europe on mobile.de the cheapest V12 Vantage is still 112,000 euro for a coupe and only 2 accident-free Roadsters available (1 of them being mine).
A few months ago there were several coupes for around the 100k euro...
What does it mean? I dont know but I doubt these cars, especially the roadsters, will become much cheaper.

Happy motoring!

I think its all about supply and demand. Prices were definitely firming up big time just about a year ago on V12V couple and roadster, and then the V12S Manual was announced and a lot of V12V manual stock came quickly back on the market as people let cherished cars go in anticipation of the new V12VS, and thus the supply/demand model softened and prices dropped.

However, look at what is happening to DBS prices - which is basically the same car as the V12V, but without a successor model! I believe it bodes well for V12V(s) model prices in the longer term. smile

A year or so ago, V12VM were very similarly priced to DBS manuals. Since then, DBS values have risen whilst V12VM values are static at best. Yes, both are beautiful, great cars to drive, built in roughly similar numbers and are the last iterations of N/A V12 manuals, but the Vantage doesn't have the halo or Bond status. The new V12 manual doesn't seem to be selling very well as people are waiting to see if the new Vantage will be as good a replacement as DB11 was for DB9. I wouldn't say the bubble has burst, there's too little supply for that, but I don't think V12V is going to appreciate much either. It all depends what happens to DBS values, and they are closely tied to Vanquish, so they should follow the same price action. Regardless, I think the Vantage is the best drivers car of all 3 so on that basis alone, that should be the one the driver, not the investor, should be looking to own.

Vantage V12 is certainly an awesome car - 3 years of ownership showed me that. However given the condition of most UK B roads they are a handful at times - Track days then yes V12V.... everything else....... Wouldn't swap back from my DBS cloud9

Same as Tony, I've had the set. The DBS is the better road car by a million miles, this is why I think the V12S is the one to have, the adaptive suspension really would make the V12V absolutely perfect.

Just to add that the switchable / adaptive suspension can be fitted to the non-S V12V (and all other pre-adaptive models too) thumbup

Not according to Vantage magazine who picked the V12 Vantage as the second best drivers Aston of all time. DBS imo best for GT cruises down to Monaco and the V12 Vantage is best for early Sunday morning blasts. Love both of them and it was a really hard call as to which one to buy.

The DBS value wise has been under valued for some time so right now is more in keeping. As for the V12V i do believe the original car will be the one to own long term as both the new manual and paddle car have questionable gearboxes like it or not. As for the suspension its just fine and as bentley says its this model that is the best modern Aston to drive up until now. V12V from 09 to 13 just perfect!

I'm not sure I agree the V12V's aren't shifting easily. Having just been in the position of looking for one, a couple were sold before I got a chance to view them. Then the weekend I bought mine someone else bought the one at AM Cambridge. And this is all in mid winter in the weeks leading up to Xmas!

I'd need to be in the insurance job to afford both! What a great combination they would be though. Happy Eggnog

And I can say that one is not better than the other.
If that wasn't the case, I assure you that my garage would look very different.
