Hi,
Anyone know where the wires go from the cruise control button module to the rotating board pcb? I can find any number of images on google of the wrong side of the board, or of the right side of the board but with no wires attached!! Just need to know which connection point to solder a red, white and black wire to at either end! Pictures attached that should explain better. I've searched the forum and I have the wiring diagram, just not that one vital bit of info!

I think that's correct from my old diagram. Worth having EVERYTHING connected, airbag etc, then turn lights on and test for 12v. That'll prove which is illumination. You'll need to plug in to AMDS to tell the car it has cruise, then that's it.

Good luck Mark. That was one of my favourite mods on my V8V, but a steering wheel with Cruise control, fit myself (took 20mins and I'm no mechanic, no wiring issues like yours?) and get dealer to switch on. Bobs your uncle Cruise ControlMark
Sounds like you've gone a little more around the houses though
Would have done a steering wheel swap, but a certain well known Aston parts website only offered me 80 quid for my perfect leather covered and phone controlled wheel in part ex for a £585 wheel with telephone and cruise. Hence the more involved route as even I couldn't make those sums work!

I have a perfectly good steering wheel (with bluetooth, no cruise) in perforated leather that matches my seats so I would like to simply add the cruise buttons. Mike at Bamford Rose said he can reflash to activate.
So to my question: did the suggested wiring of connectors 1,2 and 3 work?

I did this mod as a DIY job (Mike at BR did the necessary re-flash of the ECU).
Cutting into the foam rubber of the wheel with a craft knife required a bit of nerve. Other bits that took a little effort were
- tracking down the plug for the connection to the switchpack in order to make up the short harness. I looked for similar gauge wire just in case the resistance might be important. I have a couple of plugs left over if you need one.
- I recall spending a bit of time staring at the PCB on the steering wheel and testing with a multimeter to be sure which tracks were for illumination, signal and ground. (Sorry I can't find my note or the photo I took) to show red, white, black final connections).
- One final tip - learned the hard way - if you've turned on the ignition to test the wiring and the airbag is unplugged (for safety) then you'll trigger an airbag warning and need a plug-in like a Foxwell to reset it.
After all that it looks and operates as original fitment - a very satisfying mod..

Where did you find the connector BTW?
I can't recall exactly what they're called or where I got the plugs (other than it was on a popular auction website). Easy job to make up the harness though, 3 short lengths of wire, plug at one end and solder onto the pcb at the other. I took the steering wheel off to do the soldering to make life easier. Happy to send you a plug if you send me a PM with your address.

The phone switch was fitted from new. The cruise control button switch pack was fitted by Bamford Rose last year to the original steering wheel. Total cost of that was around £150-£175 and was carried out while the car was in for a service. They normally carry a stock of the cruise control buttons, but I am sure any of the major independents are also capable of carrying out the work.Just to confirm these switches are fitted to the original steering wheel ?
Are the cruise control switches and phone switches a supplied unit together?

I've got the cruise switch fitted to the wheel, sourced the correct connector for the back of the switch, and know the wiring order to the PCB at the top of the wheel - to keep it as OEM as possible, and for anyone else who goes down this route, does anybody know the gauge (AWG) of the wiring within the wheel for all of the harness?
If anyone can let me know, I can make up a bunch of harness extensions, meaning the cruise upgrade for anyone without, doesn't necessitate the need for a new wheel, for anyone with a vague inkling of how to solder 3 wires to a PCB and uncover/cut the wheel mount point.
