Engine warning light-Emission system needs service

My engine warning light (yellow) came on recently with the message: Emission system needs servicing. Is this just a yearly check or do I have an issue that should be checked out?

Mine comes on in the DB9V is battery goes flat, could be that?

If it does not clear itself with a few start/stop cycles, get an OBDII reader off Amazon for £30 ish, plug it in and read the error code. Will save you loads over the years and works on any modern car.

almost certainly an o2 sensor, had two recently replaced on my v8 vantage. Not expensive and would not take to a main dealer unless you like paying more for repairs :-)

Changed the thermostat on my v8v and this light has come on too. Coincidence?

All 4 sensors saying mixture too weak which is far too much of a coincidence, so I'm hoping it will sort itself out, as every time I clear the codes they pop back on the second start after clearing

When mine came on i reset it , took it for a good blast and it's been ok since that was over 18 months ago.

O2 sensors are pretty much the same as any car, replace at any local garage you trust to work on your car.

I used my local indie who are excellent, they charged me an hours labour £60 to replace two sensors and reset. You can buy them on ebay

Does anyone know the Bosch (or whatever) part number? I ask as I am sure they are a generic sensors used on Fords and Jags plus many more.

My V8VS had this issue a few times and the OBDII port reported a throttle body issue, once it was replaced (thankfully under warranty) it ran much better and was significantly smoother to drive.

On advice I have just put 4 new Bosch 15717's on my DB7 VV in place of the OEM Ford ones. All seems well so far. My pal in L.A with the same car as mine has been running on these for over a year now with no issues or CEL lights.

Only $29 each in L.A but a lot more over here sadly but still cheaper than the OEM Ford items.

I was recently quoted just over £500 to have two replaced.... Main dealer obviously.... Anyone else think that's a rip off? Oh, and I had the impression that they weren't going to charge me for plugging in the reader (drop in next time you're passing and we'll have a look)... but I got a £60 bill for it with the £500+ quote attached...

An 1-2 hours labour and £60 of parts = £500 ? ...even if the OE part are £75 each thats still a lot of labour

then you wonder why there are a network of good independents out there

Thanks to all who responded with their suggestions and tips. It was the loose gas cap that caused the alert. After resetting the gas cap and three cycles of driving, the warning light extinguished as I drove out of the infield at our local Steeplechase event. P.S. the Aston wasn't the only "gassed" entity driving home.

Sorted mine too.

Brake assit light came on so I thought maybe an air leak somewhere. Poked my head under the bonnet and one of the PCV lines was off....oh yes it was my fault as I forgot to connect it properly when I was fitting the Thermostat......big fat DOH

Hi. Each time my 4.3 throws up the emission service light,the throttle response is much smoother at slow traffic speeds. Not that slight throttle gap. I always check for fault codes. Which they’re isn’t and clear it.
Any ideas to throttle improvement. Was it slightly lean and it compensated for it?. Cheers Leroy
