Towing / pushing a car with Sportshift ?

Does anybody know how you can move an Aston Martin fitted with Sportshift 3 when the engine is not running.
Reason being, when parked in the garage I often want to push it back and forwards a few feet.
Trouble is with the engine not running the gearbox locks and prevents this.
I don't want to keep starting the engine for a few seconds just to move the car, as we all know it dosen't do it much good.

On my old Vanquish, when stopping you pull both paddles back twice in succession and turn the ignition off within 3 seconds. This leaves the trans in neutral so it can be moved about. I would imagine the newer SSMs are similar.

I think that is also the case on Sportshift I, I would imagine Sportshift III is similar

Thanks guys, That works in part, it puts the gearbox into neutral, but it locks again as soon as you take the key out.
Is there any way it can just stay in neutral without having to power everything up, what would happen if you had a flat battery ?

Switch ignition on, depress N button twice, switch ignition off. Now neutral is locked in the gearbox. At least that is the procedere for ASM 1.
I hope you do not forget to engage the handbrake!

I push N and leave it pushed while switching off ignition by removing the glass key....voila no blocked wheels (Sportshift 3)

Thanks mate, thats sorted it.

It appears that this is the procedure for the Sportshift 3,
The 2 pulls on the paddles method only holds while the ignition is on. (but appears to work for the earlier gearboxes)
A bonus is that it also works from ignition only on, so no need to fire her up if you forgot when you last put it away.

So. for SS3. Engine running / Ignition on. Press and hold 'N' . Whilst pressing remove glass key. Gearbox remains permanently in neutral.

Thin they might be talking about the starter button, on the later cars you put the key in the dash.

Hi guys, need some assistance with getting my 2015 Vanquish in neutral without the engine running. Here’s the problem. It has a faulty battery and I can’t get the car started by jumping. Totally dead with only about 4 volts. Without any external power from jumper cables the car has no power at all. When I put the external cables it gets power to the windows, dash etc...just not enough to start it. The battery was diagnosed with faulty cells so I also can’t charge it. I need to get it into neutral to push it out of my garage to get access to work on it as my garage is very tight for room. Any ideas how to get it into neutral without the engine running?

I think you need to disconnect the transmission. On the DB9 the procedure is to pull a mechanical lever underneath the rear passenger seat. What does your owners manual say ?

You should be able to remove the battery by sitting in the rear driving seat, the battery is under the rear passenger seat squab.

Thank you, the manual doesn’t mention anything about a parking override like the DB9. Agree, worst case is to try and remove it with the little access I have in the garage.
