I hadn't plugged in the trickle charger properly 2 weeks ago so the car was a bit of a mess of errors today after charging it up.

Only persistent error by now is 'child lock service required' (Rapide). Popped my cheap scanner that was recommended here and it does scan a few modules but when it gets to:

It then goes:

I swear I have used it in the past to reset the Emissions Service error. Tried with engine on and off.

Any ideas - and before the kids fall out the back!

Thanks

Cheap OBD scanners will deal with emission related issues (typically engine codes), but this is surely a body function (the other socket), for which more expensive kit is required. I suppose you could try a hard reset, by disconnecting and earthing the battery positive lead for 30 seconds, which should clear codes and return to factory settings - or visit a dealer.....

There are TWO OBD sockets? I used the only one I saw which was in the passenger footwell next to tranny tunnel.

I wont fully reset it for this (might it clear fuel injection learns/trims)?

Cheers

Most VH have two sockets, but I smilecan't speak definitively for the Rapide, and yes, you will probably lose custom and learned settings with a hard reset - but a dealer can also do that for you biggrin

Great info from Steve here https://aston1936.com/2016/03/26/using-an-obdii-co... and a recent update from him on on a Foxwell reader that actually has the proprietary AM codes not just the generic OBD2 ones.

Yes, there are two sockets.
One one located under each side of the dash close to the center tunnel.

I have the NT530 with Aston software but I am unable to find the module causing the same message.
I have no ide at this time what is causing the message in my 2012 Rapide.
Working on the diagnosis today.
If I find a cause or answer I will psot it

If anyone has info on this message that would help at least two people it looks like. lol

Cheers

Cycle the child locking function from the centre stack menu. That should reset the message.
