Hi I'm new to this forum and Aston ownership. I have just bought a 2006 db9 Volante and have found the iPod lead in the glove box. When I connect this to my phone to play music nothing happens. I have looked in the handbook and various websites but cannot find how to activate this.....please help. Is thee a button on the radio headset that I have to push?

The other thing is that the Bluetooth phone quality is awful! I have been looking at alternatives and to get the best results, phone and streaming, I am looking at about £1000. Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance Dan

Hi Dan,

I'm new to the AM scene too with an 07 DB9. The lead in the glove box would not have come from the factory like that.

The only way to improve your bluetooth is with the AM upgrade at the price you mentioned. It also allows streaming from your phone.

I am in the process of organizing all this for my car

The standard iPOD/USB connection was introduced for the 08MY, so wasn’t standard on either of your cars. The official iPod retrofit was placed in the glovebox, but I’m not sure if that’s what you have..... follow this link to check....
http://www.astonmartin.com/en/accessories/v8-vanta...

If it is the official set up you should be able to play your iPod/iPhone music (depending on which model as there can be voltage incompatibilty) but You need to enter the audio menu and select the music source as iPod before it will play.

Bluetooth streaming didn’t come in until the 15MY but it can also be retrofitted providing the car has Bluetooth fitted already, but it isn’t cheap and many use an aftermarket solution instead... there are lots of options and what is best tech changes quickly, but I’m sure some users of the best current choices will be along shortly.
Hope this helps. smile

my car is missing the cable for the iPod altogether although it is an 09 so the connection point is there. Can I but that cable anywhere besides the dealer?

Grant 3, thanks. I can't seem to get the audio menu on my headset. Am I missing something daft?

The official aftermarket installation is usually controlled (mode select - ipod/ CD etc) via the CD button (left side of the CD slot)... give it a try and see smile

Hi chaps,

Just having a quick trawl around the forum.

I posted the same question a few weeks ago.

You can buy a Bluetooth streaming gadget thingymajig on Amazon.

It cost me £75’ish and works a treat in my DB9 Volante 2008 . You can control everything from your steeering wheel controls. You just slot it onto the iPod lead and plug it in inside the arm rest, then pair your phone with it.
Better than shelling out £1000 to AM!

Here’s a link to the item - Bovee 1000 Wireless Bluetooth Music Interface Adapter for in Car iPod Integration https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00B52LLJ6/ref=cm_sw_r...

Does using that kill the built in telephone connection? I don't think my Samsung S7 can pair to two Bluetooth devices at once? So is it either music streaming or inbuilt handsfree? Cheers

My iphone (6 or 7 I dont pay attention) connects to both the bovee and the car at the same time. Recently my iphone has been randomly dropping the car connection or not connecting on startup, but from looking on the web I think it is a problem with Apple software on the phones with the latest os updates.

Not sure about samsungs but android seems to be better software these days.

I found a good solution for bluetooth streaming in my 2011 DB9: a CarPro bluetooth receiver for BMW from https://coolstreamrocks.com/carpro-bluetooth-recei....

I plugged the CarPro receiver into the 30-pin plug, turned on the power and it was easy to pair with my Samsung Galaxy S8. Subsequently, every time I use the car my phone automatically connects and music start playing, I don’t have to press a button, which I find very convenient.

The volume controls on the steering wheel buttons work, and I can use the pad the central console to skip back and forth between tracks on the playlist.

Song information does not, however, appear on the entertainment screen. I understand it will display iTunes that are saved to an iPhone but this is not an option with Android. This does not bother me, I am just glad to be able to stream from my phone.

I'm not sure what the connector is in the MY09 but if it's the same Jaguar/LR part that's in mine then the following may help:

https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NWACEZE/r...

I bought one of these for my MY15 and it seems to work well with my elderly iPod. It’s a lot cheaper than the AM (or Jag/LR) version.

Just wanted to thank Robbo for your above post. I bought a Bovee 1000 yesterday (price has gone up to £99 now!) and plugged in tonight to my DBS (MY 2008/2009) and it works a treat streaming my music with my iPhone 12.
Delighted.

My Bovee was delivered a few days ago and I have to say that it is excellent. There seems to be no loss of sound quality and being able to play internet radio stations means I now effectively have DAB as well as music streaming from my phone. A solid 10/10 and great value at less then 100 quid.

In my 2011 Vantage, streamed sound is actually better, since if activated in the head unit options, it will be processed in Dolby Pro Logic II. While normal radio and AUX cable is not. I never tried CDs, I suspect they will be in Dolby too.
