Chaps, I did a search for this but thought I would ask the question afresh - who runs what pads on their V8V?

I am replacing all discs and pads, and looked at Porterfield's R4S. But they are around £200 per set (front and rear). Worth the premium over the Pagids?

And also, where best to buy these from? I'd quite like a decent deal if I can get one!

Best regards,

Harry.

I couldn't get OEM when I did mine in the summer so put EBC reds in. Seem fine.

Eurocarparts have 50% off at the moment - ends tonight. Use the code SALE50.

They only sell Pagid or Brembo though.

Eurocarparts had an offer on, not sure if its finished now, worth a try

Ive got Pagid up front and EBC red on the rear, just because they were easy to get hold of and I wanted to give them a try. Cant say I can tell any difference, but then I didnt put them on until winter so not really driving hard

Thanks chaps - Eurocarparts' price even with the sale "discount" is higher than it is from other suppliers elsewhere. Not much of a sale, methinks - more a marketing exercise...

But thanks for the tips - keep them coming! Who do you chaps normally use for these items? Astonbits?

I'll need to do disks and pads all round on mine this year. I saw Velocity have this deal which looked pretty good.

http://www.velocityap.com/V8-Vantage-DB9-Brake-Pac...

I'd really like to do 2 Piece Brembo disks but they seem tricky to find in a complete matching set.

Performance friction also offer 2 piece discs and pads, which David Appleby is an agent for.

So many choices apparently.

Hi,

I would recommend Rick Fraser, he supplies Brembo parts and cheaper than anywhere I could find

Update for you guys - a few years back the Porterfield R4S got good reviews online from owners, at a price similar or less than the OE spec Pagids. I contacted the UK supplier, and their best price was £200 per axle - so pretty pricey, frankly!

Thanks for the other leads, I have sent e-mails.

As above post, always try Rick Fraser as he can usually get you best price on the market.

I ended up with EBC yellow pads on the fronts and pagids on the rear.

These are matched with Brembo brake discs.

For me the choice was a combination of availability and price.

I plan to try the Porterfield R4-s next as these are supposed to the best choice for functionality and minimal brake dust.

I run Porterfields in a couple of cars. Far better than OEM and loads less dust. Price has increased due to exchange rates from US since I got them a couple of yrs ago.

After looking around for a while, this was the best option.

Rick at BMG sells OEM pads

Harry, sorry for hijacking your thread, hope you don’t mind. But as a fellow Streathamite (engrossed by your renovation threads!) and new V8v owner I wondered where you take yours for servicing?

Mine needs a service in the next couple of months so trying to scout out a reputable specialist that’s not a million miles away.

Cheers
Olv

Opening up an old thread but may be useful to those who have been searching like I have for what is best option pads now mine are worn out.

After research I've ordered some Porterfield R4S from the UK stockist - http://www.porterfieldbrakes.co.uk/ £360 for fronts and rears.

Ive always upgraded to Pagid on my other cars and they are OE on the Vantage, the RS4-2-2 compound. Its just they are quite dusty, thats the only benefit I ever experienced by changing to other brands....oh, and price of course, EBC and Porterfield are cheaper than Pagid.
