V12 Vantage S Trunk Closure
Discussion
Hello all - a fairly trivial question but one that is puzzling me and for which the local dealer has no answer. I have just replaced my 2011 V12 Vantage Special Black Carbon edition with a new (2017 model) V12 Vantage S 7-speed manual in China Grey (see obligatory picture!). To close the boot/trunk lid in my previous Vantage, there was a leather strap inside just behind the latch that one could tug on to close the lid. In the new car, there is no leather strap and nowhere inside to grab a hold to pull the lid down. For those of you who own a V12 Vantage S, is this the way they were designed?
I’ve fitted one to my 2017 V12S manual. The bolt hole is still there. I managed to source one just before part exing and was able to remove the trim clips to locate the bolt hole. Then a simple job of cutting the trim to allow the bolt to be fitted.
It’s penny pinching along with several others items that had been deleted against the previous models.

stunning
they dropped the leather pull from the standard spec along with a few other small items, a few years ago, then reintroduced it for the AMR cars
All a little odd and penny-pinching IMO. I am not aware that it was a factory fit option during the period it was dropped, although could be wrong. I had thought when it was dropped the only way to have it was via Q or via parts/dealer aftermarket fit. You do see them for very little money on eBay and astonmartinbits from time to time

It looks as if Aston Martin Parts might be able to help.......

We will find out...........I don't want to have to grab the boot/trunk lid every time to close it.....

Oddly enough, I've been puzzling the same question. My 2016 car also has no grab handle, but I see you can buy them from Aston Martin for the bargain price of £105. Instead, I went to eBay and bought a nylon interior grab strap from Crest Motorsport for £4.95 and I'll see if it fits. I'll update after the weekend.

Interesting thread, guys - I'd love to know if the Crest part works out as the part looks decent quality, plus they come in lots of colours, including green! PS - obligatory picture:

Ohh, and OP - congrats on a stunning car and welcome to the V12VSM club!

Astonmartinbits have one too, if anyone else I’d after one:

I was glad to see this - I also recently purchased a 2017 V12VS manual and was surprised to see the hatch closure pull strap missing as I had one in my 2014 V8 Vantage (though that one had a Q spec interior). I was going to try to order one but also saw no provision to attach one, and wondered if the mounting hole was under the trim. It was very handy in the '14 and I'm excited to hear it is something that can be retrofitted.
Thanks for posting this.
