Does anyone know if the A/C compressor used in 2005 DB9 is an Aston specific component, or whether it's from the Ford / Jaguar / Volvo parts bin? If so do you have a parts number? I think mine is on it's way out.....

What makes you thinking on its way out?

My air con is very poor despite being recharged, i have assumed it's just how they are

did you have a dye injected at the same time you had the system recharged?
if so have the system checked by a garage with UV light to see if there are any leaks in the system first.
next step is to check HVAC system, but this needs the car to be plugged in to record pressures etc.
cheers raj

I had my Vantage done last week at local generic garage. The machine drains it, then pressure tests, then recharges with set weight of refrigerant and lubricant to Denso/AM spec. Cost £49 and really gets icy cold now....had just noticed it not working towards the end of last season ....

Thanks for your replies everyone.

I think the system is leaking as it was re-charged last summer by the previous owner, when I test drove it in December the cabin was misting up so I guessed he hadn't got the leak fixed and asked the people who inspected the car if they could locate a leak on the system. They thought it looked as if the compressor was leaking and now the weather has started to get warmer, I want to get it fixed. I'll get the hoses etc checked out first before shelling out on a new compressor just in case!

My Vantage had a leak on the compressor, it's just a Denso part although not particularly cheap. Think it's the same on the DB9. David Appleby Engineering replaced mine at the last service, changed some O rings and recharged it and it's been good as gold ever since!
