Friendly North London/South Herts Independent? DSC Service
Discussion
Hi Guys
I've got a DSC Service Required / Traction Control Temporary Off message.
The car was sat with a dead battery for a while and concerned when it was jumped electrical gremlins may have crept in.
I've used a Bluetooth OBD and free versions of Dash Command and Torque Lite apps, but neither found any codes.
So...I think I need some specialist help.
I know some garages would like to charge £150 just to get into the Drivers seat, which I'm not so keen on.
Does anyone know an Independent who will be reasonable, check what it is and probably change ((from reading the forum) the brake pressure transducer or yaw sensor.
Recommendations please!
Thanks

Those 2 error messages often arise from a faulty brake pressure transducer, which sounds complicated but is in reality a small pressure switch which is around £80 and an easily accessible 10 minute DIY job which doesnt involve any crawling around or special tools, I did mine last year.
I would try that first, given that most dealers will charge twice that just to plug it in and check.

I've found this.

Do I need to access underneath the car?
Thanks

No its easy to do, lift the bonnet and its near the top left hand side rear of the engine compartment, literally unscrew it and screw the new one on. Wipe down after and top up if necessary. If you are quick you hardly lose any fluid.https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/part/180333/aston...

I had a similar error and same fix.
It's on the brake master cylinder, which is just to the right of the blue cap in the photo as you look at the photo.
You will lose a small dribble of brake fluid as you remove the old one, but if you put a piece of cloth under the unit it will be fine, just beware brake fluid is deadly to paintwork so be very careful not to let any drip anywhere near your paint as you lift the old switch away from the car, or when removing the cloth.
If you are not confident with spanners buy the part and ask someone to do it for you, any half decent mechanic can do this, it isn't a technical job.
And PS yes that's the part in the link you posted, it has a wire going to it which just unplugs and plugs into the new one when you swap them.

Thanks very much for this.
Part ordered and i will give it a go!
Any special tools required?
No, two pieces of cloth, and a correct size spanner which I think is around 17mm, from memory I think I used a short open ended spanner on mine simply because it fitted into the space easier.Part ordered and i will give it a go!

Pull the connector off, put a piece of cloth under the old unit, loosen and unscrew it, remove carefully, wrap it in the other piece of cloth to avoid any drips of brake fluid when taking it out of the engine bay, screw new unit in, tighten, reconnect wire, remove cloth from under unit, clean up general area, throw both cloths away, check brake fluid level, wash hands before closing bonnet, check faults have cleared (this might need a couple of start/stop cycles) put kettle on,
Manx, did you work out if anything prompted the component's failure or did it just 'go'? I have the same message on mine after changing the brakes. I haven't started up the car yet but had assumed the error message might be as a result of loss of vacuum on the servo after pumping the pedal to get the pads contacting the discs. I guess I will see once I start her up.

No the fault just popped up one day so I did a bit of searching and found a common theme on a couple of forums pointing to this component, after looking at the price compared to getting a diagnostic check I decided to take a gamble and ordered one, job sorted.I haven't bought the part yet. You are probably right that it will be cheaper elsewhere. I've sometimes found that parts are cheaper from the dealer using AMOC discount than what you can get them for at Scuderia. I've not done any research yet to find out if this might be a Ford or Jaguar part, does anyone know?

I did try to cross reference the part without success, there were rumours of it being a Ford part but I wasn't able to find anything to back this up, so I ordered from Nicholas Mee as they were actually the cheapest online by a few pounds. Here you go, I knew I'd kept a photo of the label somewhere -
