Just picked up my new (ok 2007 but new to me) V8 Vantage. Drove LOADS of Porsche 997s and very nearly bought one but it was just lacking. Drove the Aston and I knew straight away that I wanted one. Completely different power delivery to the Porsche, the cabin is way better
and the sound is amazing. I love it.

Id go further than 'not a great pic', and vote this as probably the worst new aston photo I've ever seen biggrin

Get it out and enjoy it.... And take a proper photo!! biggrin

I know, but wouldn't want anyone to think that I would pretend to own an Aston and did not..... Pics to follow when I am out tomorrow

Looking... promising! Good choice, these are very lovely things to own and drive. Recommend the fuse 22 or the remote switch...

Can you please explain?

Indeed, the rear exhaust box has flaps that make the car quieter below 4000rpm, above this rpm the flaps motor open and the exhaust path changed up to allow more noise. These flaps can be permanently opened by the removal of fuse 22 in the rear fuse box in the rhs of the boot. Alternatives for about £40 (I think...) you can by a remote fob that you can choose to have the flaps open at the lower revs or revert to the manufacturer's intent, which is flaps closed and quieter below 4000rpm.

I have the remote fob, bought off a member here and it's rather good!

Congratulations Philip on being an Aston Martin owner. In my case, it has been an honour and a privilege, which provides a marvellous driving experience.

Don‘t take this photo to prove ownership stuff too seriously. We just enjoy looking at Aston Martin pictures. There is at least one professional photographer here, so we are treated to some stunning photographs. No pressure though. wink

Enjoy your new car.

PS. The exhaust flaps are open 0 to 1500rpm, closed to about 4000rpm, then open again.

Didn't know that! Still, the difference is 'quiet' or 'loud'!

Congratulations - although I admit my heart stopped for a moment when I read the title as I though you meant the 1980's version.

Ooops, looks like £65 not £40, apologies!

I did note that a similar device for an Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio is about £500...

Very nice.
I'm on 3rd week of ownership. I'm off to AML Macclesfield tomorrow to let them have a poke round it. Fingers crossed it's a good report.
Hope you're enjoying it
