Discussion
Greetings
Looking at getting back into AM ownership.
I am looking at the 2016 Skyfall Silver V12 Vantage roadster at AM Northampton, anyone on here know of its history (or even owned it)?.

Hmm yes, a far better proposition. I can't believe you are letting that go Rob.
Trust me I’ve thought about it long and hard for about 3/4 months now and needs must. If I didn’t it would end up in a storage unit or a mates garage and I’d rarely even see it. At least this way someone else gets the pleasure, the car is mint. Looks lovely. Nice spec too with lightweight seats, lightweight wheels.
Lightweight seats are pretty rare on a Roadster, don't forget you loose the heated seat option but this has never bothered me, I wouldn't want the standard sports seat.
Not aware of price levels in UK but this seems like a good price for such a low mileage car.
Get it bought!

^^ This. And the one above, too.
I'm sure having a stick would be fun for a while, but SS3 provides the advantage of being able to focus on inputs from the throttle, brakes and steering without sacrificing more than a flick of the fingers (in the nicest possible way) to deal with the matter of gears. There's a lot going on at speed in these cars, and the gears are pretty short.
Anyway, that Roadster looks lovely, though I can't believe how low it's priced. I also can't believe someone's only put 5k miles on it in 30 months. What a waste!

Horses for courses I guess.
I love the manual as it adds an involvement that paddle pulling just can't do, and as I'm not trying to go stupid fast the time it takes to change gear makes no odds to me. You can't really mess up a gear change in a SS, however that's what I like about the manual, the more you work at it the better the interaction becomes. Anyhow, we're all different which is good.
Anyway, yes that does look like a lovely car, just get it bought and be done with it

Many thanks for the replies, but t seems no one knows the past history of this car..
Always worth a shot. But given the small proportion of V12V owners represented on this PH forum, it was still a long shot. Many thanks for the replies, but t seems no one knows the past history of this car..

The post has seemed to veer off on a manual v auto debate I have always had manuals previously but now prefer auto with paddles I do understand the virtues of both.
If you think this is an auto with paddles, then you need to do some more research before buying a £100k car.The reason why the manual vs (automated) manual debate so often comes up, is because (a) SportsShift makes for a pretty crappy experience for those expecting DCT/slushbox levels of refinement but also (b) it’s also hugely underrated as an alternative to a classic manual setup and lots of people are big fans.
If want an Aston droptop with an auto box, you’re in DB9 / Virage / Vanquish territory.
Happy shopping!
