For 100k I've offered a 2016 Carbon Edition Vanquish or 2017 DB11 launch edition. I've had Astons before -Vantage and DB9 but not a Vanquish.
I have a feeling the Vanquish will depreciate less but is not modern as looks like an updated/uprated DB9!
In three years time, do you guys think they'll both be worth about 70k at trade value?

The Vanquish looks cooler, sounds cooler, and has done the majority of its depreciating, it will cost more to run/maintain but I know which I'd choose* biggrin

Test drove them both back to back, Vanquish was an S though.
Vanquish was far more special, DB11 V12 was like a biig Merc, a big GT, nice but there was no emotion.
The interior, the sound, the drive, the experience: Vanquish was my favourite of the two.

So that would be a Vanquish. DB11 is terrific, but it doesn't look as good as the Vanquish. The Vanquish is NA and sounds amazing. No comparison IMHO.

Clearly a personal choice, but i'd go for the Vanquish as well!

I suggested to the wife yesterday that I buy her a DB11. She refused on the basis that she’d feel short changed every time she saw it next to my Vanquish!

Having now put about 8k miles on a Vanquish S, I don’t think there’s a comparison. Indeed, so good is it, I’ve not felt the urge to consider a DBS.

Vanquish definitely for looks and sound alone.

Didn’t the DB11 launch edition have some flaws that were rectified on later models and Aston won’t back date the improvements?

If you chose a Vanquish i presume if bought from a dealer would come with a 1 year timeless warranty.......does anyone know the cost to re-new the warranty each year on said Vanquish

I’ve just bought an old vantage v12 over the new one. Unless you are obsessed with tech the older cars are a better driving experience and prettier. And this goes for every single manufacturer at the moment!

Unbiased here but without a doubt the Vanquish it has to be one of the best looking Astons ever imo better than the new DBSS even...and that V12 is just another level of noise compared to the turbo engines... I really like the interior in these too.

Having had a Vanquish and now a DB11, I'd happily have a late Vanquish again over the crappy DB11.

As already said, the DB11 is just a merc in an Aston body and is pretty soulless.
Not a bad car for what it is but bar the newer tech, it is not better than the Vanquish.

Vanquish, the name alone is enough.

Hmmm, the Vanquish seems to be edging it very slightly over the DB11, close thing though....

Is it 6 or 8 speed? 2016 Vanq should be 8 I think, that would be the deal breaker for me.

Some days I'd prefer a DB11 to the Vanquish, other days it's the Vanquish. I've clocked up probably 1k miles in an early DB11 V12, and approaching 3k miles in my Vanquish (early 6 speed) - I've not reached a conclusion beyond the Vanquish had more of a sporting edge, because the early DB11 didn't have as good damping as later ones, and the Vanquish feels more like a comfier, slightly bigger Vantage, than it does a soft GT. You can hustle it or cruise in it, it plays both roles extremely well. It certainly leans more toward the Vantage than the DB9 in driving dynamics. 2015 onwards it got better still on the dynamics side of it.

The DB11 engine and transmission is superior to the Vanquish (same 8 speed but better software in the later car), bar for noise - but as I noted in the DBSS thread(s), the AM31 sounds fantastic for what it is, and gets better with each iteration. It's very quickly disregarded by many, but the engine is a very impressive lump and epitomises Aston in many ways. Silky smooth, effortless power, fantastic sound, and remarkably frugal (28.5mpg in a 2 tonne, 600bhp V12 is good going).

Overall, the Vanquish would probably be the better bet, but with this caveat:

We're not comparing apples and apples - the complaints levelled at the DB11 for not being unveiled with the power and dynamics of the AMR at launch, is something that should have been levelled at the 8 speed Vanquish that replaced the 6 speed, because that was dynamically a better car. So the comparison in this case, is between the last flagship in its last (best) iteration vs the first (weakest) iteration of a next gen car.

In any case, it's a nice conundrum to have biggrin

Honestly i prefer my DB11 V8 in terms of looks, handling and sound ( it sounds better than the V12) - it is the more modern car. argue
