Hi guys

Currently in the process of trying to buy a used V8V, there’s a couple out there that have taken my eye but sadly the budget seems to be creeping up and up. I enquires about this car at Newport Pagnell more with a view of telling them this is what I’m after albeit a higher mileage lower priced example;
http://www.astonmartinworks.com/approved-sales/ast...
Anyway they managed to persuade me to go in next week to take a look incase a deal can be made..they’re very persuasive. Looking into it deeper they’ve had it in stock for a couple of months now and had it up at £65k originally. They obviously want to make some deal to get it cleared but part of me is wondering why it still hasn’t sold..is it priced too high? Or is there some other reason
A few others have taken my fancy including;
https://www.stoneacre.co.uk/used-cars/aston-martin...

Trying mako blue at least online looks to be my favourite colour so trying to weigh up if an N430 in my second favourite colour outweighs a cheaper roaster mako...I guess it’s apples and oranges.
Any advice on how i should play things. Obvious thing would be to try them both but don’t want to be seen as wasting dealers time by saying what’s the best you can do followed by ok I’ll go elsewhere and try a car in their stock
Any advice welcome guys

That N430 is Stunning. It’s been for sale for some time as you say and more than a few months but I wouldn’t worry as anything with a V8 these days no matter what marque is not easy to sell. Cars can sit around for ages before the the right buyer comes a long. Way of the world currently with people shying away from big engine cars. Priced about right looking at other N430’s for sale and the only reason it’s dropped in price is probably because prices have dropped in general over the time they have had it. There is also a manual N430 I see at another dealer for 57k and it’s a manual which probably pushed them to drop the price as well so it becomes more comparatively priced. N430 is arguably the best of the V8 range and if I was buying it would be this model. Once you drive I bet you will want it.

That makes sense...hoping the fact it’s been there a while might make it a little cheaper but they’ll maybe say that’s usual and that they already dropped it anyway
So what makes the N430 the pick, Ive obviously done some research about the changes being 10hp and some nice carbon/Alcantara inside. Also read they have sports seats which shed 20 kilos but it looks like these have regular vantage seats? No? Maybe only some were specced with lightweight race ones?
Also the info for the cars say sports exhaust as standard...is that the same as the vantage S which also apparently had a sports exhaust? Not sure on what changed but if anyone does that’s behelpful.
Thanks for the heads up on the manual I’ll go have a look for it...

Ah yes I have come across that N430 before...also has benefit of full leather instead of Alcantara seats...and manual...
Don’t worry I’ll not open that debate on here....

The car has standard seats which lots have. The carbon seats were standard I believe but you could spec the normal ones. Think the sports exhaust is different to the S one but I may be wrong and maybe the suspension set up is more focused as well. The brochure says it has competition derived breaks, quick ratio steering, sports suspension....Think this is what maybe makes it different to a standard S. Also it was 20kg lighter tan standard Vantage but that’s with those Carbon seats.

Aston dealers don’t (as a rule) sell rubbish so I would say you can rest easy with this car and you get the back up from a main dealer warranty. You can use the other silver manual car when negotiating a price. Think both cars look stunning.

Think I prefer the alcantara as it suits that sporty nature of the N430 but that’s just a personal thing. I would probably be tempted to drive a manual and the Sportshift 11 a see what you prefer as no matter what others say this is again a personal thing. I’ve driven both and I don’t have an issue with either gearbox.

I’ve watched this over and over again and every time I watch it I want an N430 even more. Says it all for me...

Also worth mentioning that there is a blue and black N430 at another Aston dealer both at £63900... both these have come down by 4K over the last few weeks so just to put your mind at rest.....

Yes that’s true I suppose having both similar price will help, I assume N430 residuals are slightly better if that matters...but probably more factors such as spec and condition etc
Newport Pagnell is local dealer and on the phone suggested as I work for RedBull we are pretty much ‘family’ so would look after me etc, verrrrry good game plan there it might just work...
I guess I’d have to weigh up if I prefer the mako cum roadster posing benefits compared to a more racy feeling N430 and try to come up with a decision...

Wow so a few have dropped...not sure if that’s a good thing or if that worries me how much they’re shedding to try and pass these on! At this rate a few more weeks might help!

Ah yes you did sound familiar...did you buy a V12?
Decided to pull out of the maser idea after a guy at work needed a new engine in his and the lack of dealer network put me off...still visit the forum though as it seemed like a nice place to be!

As said buddy just how things are when selling these type of cars these days. Such a small market. Aston prices are better than most but still not bullet proof. A year ago you could hardly find an early Vantage under 30k now there are many. They stayed at 30k for years. Think no matter what you buy you have to accept you will see it drop in value but just enjoy enjoy it and don’t worry too much about it.

No V12 yet.......

Well it could be worse you could have bought the Maserati and trying to shift that on now would have been a nightmare. When you said you worked for Red Bull I remember you telling me you were Daniel Ricciardos crew and though you had to be the same person.... You still enjoying your work ....

Me and my two boys still cheering on your two drivers. My one son has a Red Bull cap signed by Vettel which takes pride of place in his bedroom alone with his Vantage model. Taught him well. Really enjoyed Monaco race by the way........ No Maserati, not had one for years......Vantage next though. Best looking car on the road still for me.

Personally I don’t think it makes any difference which V8V you buy. The N430 is a paint/spec job on a V8S. If it’s not got the sports seats then it lost one of the big advantages of the N430 spec.
I would have a look at what V8S are available and for me the manual was a big plus. Not saying the other is bad it’s just I wanted a manual.

Test drive a coupe and a roadster, try Sportshift and traditional manual, sports and lightweight seats. Then you’ll know what car you like best, then search out the best deal in your budget.

I wouldn’t worry about wasting dealers’ time. Just be up front with what you’re doing. If they don’t have what you decide on, they'll try and find you one!

To me, the lightweight seats are a massive improvement over sports. They really change the way the car feels. N430 Coupe/SS/lightweights would be my ultimate V8. Yours might be Roadster/manual/sports.

They’re all great.

Okay that’s good to know cheers guys
I suppose with such an important thing I need to make sure it’s the right choice and the only way of doing that is by looking at the various options, deciding and then when that one comes along making the jump for it...
There’s an N430 for 50k in Leeds which is more in terms with budget due to higher mileage, annoyingly they’ve still not attached photos online but that might be a better bet..
But will see what they have in the local dealer on Monday and at least be honest and say it might take a while
Perhaps their N430 by then would drop in price anyway...

If you plan to keep your Aston Martin for some time, then your comment above is wise.
Research and then choose exactly the specification which would be your ideal. Be patient, and hope that a close match becomes available.

Take care with your choice between Sportshift (automated manual) and Manual. A handful of contributors on here, have actually sold Sportshifts, fairly soon after buying them. Some love them, but I think it is called a 'Marmite' choice.
