DB11 V12 - AMR dealer upgrade to 630 hp
Discussion
Is it just the power boost ? I thought the AMR was a bit louder then the standard car too. Not sure if that was an engine tune or exhaust change.
Can’t say I have ever felt the standard car lacked power but improving the sound and maybe the suspension tweaks could be interesting if I don’t switch to the DBX next year.

I had it done when bought my DB11, seemed to be a no-brainier to me.
As a comparison, I only drove about 20 miles in it beforehand, but once fitted the car felt very similar to the AMR version I had on loan and did about 400 miles.
It’s remapped to be similar to the AMR, including change in exhaust sound so definitely recommend it.

Talking to some Aston Martin engineers at this years Amelia Concours, they confirmed that the only difference between the DB11 and the new DBS is just the tune. Both the DB11 and the DBS engine assemblys have the same part number. A few of the after market tuners can retune the DB11 to make more than 700 hp.

I believe the DBS has a new gearbox to take the increased powerlarger said:
Apart from the power tweak are there any other mechanical differences between the V12 and AMR?
Already touched on above, but stiffer suspension bushes, thicker anti-roll bars, tweaked damping (same spring rate as before) and forged wheels (something in the region of 3.5kg weight reduction at each corner). It makes quite a difference to the overall handling - more toward a DBSS level of ability, without losing any cruising comfort. It's physically a big car but feels much more playful than the original V12. NFC 85 Vette said:

ThanksAM Nottingham are offering a 30BHP increase to a DB11 for £1795. My question is to whether this is limited to a software chip change or something more such as suspension changes and exhaust modifications. Also would this devalue its resale value and/or become an insurance concern for underwriter.

It would only be an insurance concern if you don't tell them about it. Talk to your insurer when you mod your car. Most are very receptive to it and it often makes little or no difference to the premium. Or don't tell them, have an accident then get your claim turned down. The choice is yours.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
