Could someone possibly tell me what finish is on the outer lip of the V8 Vantage S alloy wheel, as per pic below? I'm struggling to tell whether it is diamond cut or a highly reflective paint / powder coat?

Thanks in advance!

On this subject, has anyone changed the colour of these wheels on their car; mine is a Tungsten silver and was wondering whether a move away from stock colour would look good?

The spokes and outer rim are diamond cut.

AM Bristol took the later V8 Vantage S “split” 5 spoke alloys and changed then brilliantly from black/diamond-cut to gunmetal. An approximation of the OEM colour option, but looks perfect IMHO. Slightly less common and offset nicely by Volcano Red!

I later bought the gunmetal centre caps which really helped.

Currently have black/diamond cut V spokes but given the cut can only be carried out a few times im debating between a gunmetal or satin black finish

Open to suggestions for a black car with bright streaks and window trims

Without making any judgement on owners personal taste......

The diamond cut wheels are prone to corrosion and milking of the lacquer over the diamond cut areas so painting/powder coating the whole wheel is an easy and cheap way to
a, cover any previous kerb/corrosion damage
b, get the finish to last a lot longer, eliminating warranty claims on wheel corrosion.

Black chrome over the whole wheel, sometimes called shadow chrome I believe.

Agreed. My diamond cut wheels as in pic above have been refurbished twice so far due to milking of lacquer. Dealer did them at 3 years old before re-sale then again 9 months later under warranty. Now 7 years old they need doing again.

I will be powder coating one colour next time smile

I don't seem to have a problem with the lacquer going milky. I tend to use the kerb to file off any potential issues. biggrin

I have the 10 spokes shown in pics above as a winter set - I don't think it's the best looking Vantage wheel aesthetically, as it's quite a heavy-looking design, so looks better with the two colour effect of the diamond cutting. Conversely, on the thinner 10 spokes of my 'summer' sportspack, wheels, I think they look better as a single colour than diamond cut.

Diamond cutting is inherently flawed, and the whiteworm comes back eventually.... I had my summer wheels refurbished in an ultra chrome powdercoat, which compared to a standard 'OE' silver is a slightly darker silver with a higher gloss/reflectivity. Really pleased with them.
