V8 Vantage - Performance upgrades?
Discussion
Plenty of options out there now to add another 30-40bhp or so with bolt ons; exhausts, cats, air filters, ECU maps

On a 4.3 you are probably looking at £5-6k depending on the route you take, then you start thinking you may as well save up for an early 4.7 in the first place and make your starting point 420bhp instead.....

Hi, I am looking at getting a V8 Vantage however the performance is a little bit lack lustre. What available upgrades are out there to sharpen up the performance?
Love the car it just needs more go!
Thank in advance.

How quick do you need?
From standstill, you can be jailed after just 10 seconds, but if you want to get there even quicker, then the V12 Vantage would be the perfect car for you.

Clearly budget and desired outcome are the driving factors but my 4.7 has just been to Bamford Rose for sports cats, N400 induction mod and remap and in terms of bang for buck the results are awesome. If I want more (I won’t, I lack the driving talent) I can still add the high flow manifolds and back box but that more than doubles the price. Also available for 4.3.
Note the recurring theme... Bamford Rose!

Does anyone have any pics/details on the difference between the standard and sports exhaust in a vantage S and N430?
I know it’s a different silencer...but different how? Any pics etc
There have been several different back boxes over the years and models. The Vantage S back box is louder and more "resonant", particularly on the overrun, than the back box on my previous 2009 standard 4.7 V8V.I know it’s a different silencer...but different how? Any pics etc

I don’t know the specifics, but the end result is only 10bhp more between non-S and S spec 4.7 V8. Remove secondary cats for around another 10bhp more (to GT8 spec of 440bhp). But in reality, power difference is not noticeable.I know it’s a different silencer...but different how? Any pics etc

What is noticeable is the noise. I lived with a de-cat non-S for 18 months before changing to a de-cat S for the past year. Apart from the automated manual being much quicker than manual for shifts, there’s no notable difference in getting to license-removal speeds, but the smaller back box on the S makes much more noise when the valves open. I think it’s just a case of decreased baffling.

What's your before and after hp/torque?
Mines not been on a rolling road but there are figures on the BR website and it's an increase of about 40 bhp and is clearly noticeable. Combined with the clutch/flywheel it makes the car much more responsive to drive. Happy to demo to anyone local.andyvvc said:
Do these upgrades (exhaust and high flow cats) need a rolling-road remap to be useful? Or do Bamford and others have a custom ECU reflash that they use to take the upgrades into account (without using a rolling road?)
ECU flash for remap all part of the product with BR. I also got a H&T throttle remap at the same time to eliminate the dead bit at the top of the throttle pedal travel.I'm interested in the throttle mapping too - does it completely delete the dead feel at the top of the throttle? I have BR lightened flywheel and twin plate clutch fitted to my 4.3 which I love, but I hate the lack of responsiveness on the throttle.
