DB9 Rear exhaust tip plastic mounting point question
Discussion
My DB9 has in the past had a rear exhaust box delete and straight through pipes fitted in its place, sounds great but I want to now remove these and fit a Larini GTE rear box that I have recently purchased. I have also had to buy a pair of the rear exhaust tips and the two short extension pipes that fit from the back box into the exhaust tips as well as the straight through pipes have their own exhaust tips welded on to them so the originals were removed and were probably discarded.
The problem I have come across is that when the previous owner/garage fitted the straight through pipes they broke the 4 exhaust tip mounting points that are moulded into the rear diffuser when removing the original exhaust tips. I want to avoid buying a new diffuser if possible so my question is can I fit the exhaust tips into the rear mounting rubbers and would the rigidity of the back box fitted in place and these rear mounting rubbers be enough to hold the exhaust tips in place without them moving around or would I definitely need to use the 4 mounting points? I am sure other people have had broken exhaust tip mounting problems in the past and the hard plastic moulded mounting points do seem to be a very weak point with this set up.
Thanks in advance
