Hmmmm. I recently removed the secondary cats on my V12V. I bought the car second hand from Aston and the previous owner had clearly removed fuse 22 to ensure the valves were open earlier on etc. Issue now is that it can be hit or miss as to whether I get the Aston of my dreams when it turns over or a bit of a damp squib.

I assume the valves either get stuck shut or open? Any advice appreciated because it can be quite frustrating!

Thanks

Do you mean it sounds great if they are open but sometimes they stick shut?

Just bought some de cat pipes for mine (not fitted yet) so very interested

Yes, either the car is fairly muted or it’s raucously loud!

Would prefer it to be the latter at all times but will often just be quiet

I'm pretty sure you can get under the rear and free the valves up if they are sticking

maybe do a search for it

You can activate the exhaust value pushrods by hand to make sure they are moving freely. Just crawl under the rear silencer and you’ll see one solenoid on each side. A squirt of lubricating oil might be needed.

The sound at start-up is different if the engine is hot or cold. Cold is very loud, hot isn't. The revs flare on a cold start as the system gets the catalytic converters up to operating temperature quickly...

Thanks. Yep, I understand it will sound different on cold start up vs warm, however on what should be a cold start up it can sometimes sound like a warm start up, if that makes sense (assuming leaving car for 24 hours constitutes a cold start up)
