Vanquish S or DBS Superleggera.
Discussion
The DBSS looks stunning and seems to have been well received by those who have driven it, but the VS is such a wonderful machine (especially the Volante, which treats you to even more of the music) that I've not felt any desire to find a DBSS to view close up or drive.
I know I'd regret selling the VS so, for the time being at least, I'll keep re-using the man maths "saving" from not having bought a DBSS to add more cars.
Must however confess that I am a little surprised that AM/dealers aren't doing more to tempt VS owners to view or switch to the DBSS. Was invited to Coupe pre-launch at short notice and a time that was frankly ungodly given where I live (I assume someone else cancelled) but nothing at all, don't even recall an email, when the Volante was launched.

Have viewed both - a DBSS in Xenon Grey (suited it well) and a Vanquish S in a stunning blue (I think Ming Blue).
Both the wife and I really liked the overall Vanquish design. But interior seems a little dated if you dont mind that. As far as Astons go, both designs are truly excellent.

Thinking about it carefully the DBS apart from that lovely front can still remind me of a DB11 whereas the Vanquish is perhaps more unique?. Also i do prefer the dash on the Vanquish to be honest.
So today the Vanquish edges ahead, who knows what thoughts i will have tomorrow lol.
As always that's lovely Nick.

I’m not normally someone to weigh up the pros and cons, normally a gut feeling, but with Vanquish vs DBS I do find myself doing so.
They come out on balance very evenly to me, but then price comes into it and the Vanquish wins.
Personally I prefer the look of the non S, hence why I got back into one. Also when I bought my second one, basically all my friends/family told me the Vanquish was their favourite of my cars and I should never have sold my first one anyway.

Here is just my personal take, speaking as the lucky owner of both a Vanquish S and a DBS Superleggera...
I think the two cars fulfill slightly different roles. So my question would be how are you looking to use the car and for how long?
The DBS is the better daily driver. For me, it is the better GT car; comfier, more refined and easier to live with everyday. Use it for a few years and then move on when the time is right.
However, the Vanquish S is the event car. Every time I jump in, it feels that special. I think the cabin is timeless and has some lovely, unique touches that have been lost in the move to DBS. I even prefer AMi III to the DBS system...
I kept the spec of the DBS to sensible levels, knowing that a DBS AMR would be on the horizon at some point but the Vanquish was always bought and spec'd as a keeper. It's going nowhere, ever.

I've always regretted selling my V12V as well - so do so with care!
Maybe that the next step is to try both and listen to what your gut says... However, it sounds like you want a more 'special' car and, for me, that is the Vanquish S.
Will you ever get bored of listening to the Vanquish's V12? Nope.
Will you ever get tired of looking at one of the most beautiful cars? Ditto...
If you decide on a Vanquish then keep looking in the classifieds until you see the colour / spec your really want and then go for a keeper.
Also, I would keep in mind that the Vanquish S will always be the ultimate version of that car, but the DBS will probably get further upgrades during its life cycle.

Well due to where i live and other cars more suited to the area it is used very rarely, so it has to be a little special.
Also not sure i could part with my V12V Carbon Black.
Just some thoughts going on with what i could change it for if i did really.
Just for the record I swapped a Vantage for a Vanquish and the Vantage was only a V8S not even a V12 Also not sure i could part with my V12V Carbon Black.

The Vanquish is a fantastic car and a keeper in the spec I found. BUT I did miss the slightly raw edge of the Vantage and the Sportshift gearbox. I decided that rather than get another Vantage I would scratch another itch and got a Maserati Gransport with CC box which meets my Vantage type needs and sits nicely alongside the Vanquish.
Point of the tale being I predict you would also find that you would want both. If I had to choose only one then Vanquish it would be, which I think is the same for upperworks?
