Extra warranty v discount
Discussion
All depends who the owner of the franchise is, Stratstone are notorious for 'the price is the price' but you can negotiate 'extras'. Other chains may well have some wriggle room on the price, I'd certainly prefer a discounted car over extras but it all boils down to if the car is 'the one', obviously the extras cost the dealer less than they do you, at the end of the day it's all about just being happy with the deal.
As mentioned above, there is one dealer group which has a reputation for not giving any discount whatsoever. It is thought that pricing is controlled by their HQ.
From what people say here, all the other dealers tend to be flexible, but not by an enormous percentage.
You might be lucky now, because it is September. Often a month for dealer financial targets and incentives.
Perhaps try to see if you get any reaction to, "I could do payment by 30th September, but early October might suit me better".
If you have found a really pampered car, in the exact specification which you want though, I would play at negotiating, but would be quite happy to pay the sticker price. Good luck.

Hi. Yes. You can. I got 2 years warranty and servicing included in my timeless purchase but as others say, these “extras” cost them less than the value they bring you. For me, I wanted a hassle free ownership experience because I have awful luck with cars. I always start with trying to get the price down, then progress onto the extras and then finally the obligatory carbon pen set for my lucky, lucky wife
I managed to get about 4k off the screen price on my vantage, but they couldnt do any more - or throw anything else in.
Was sort of over a barrel as car spec was rare and they only had it 8 days.
From what i was told, on average they start with 10k in the car (assume more going up the price range), then prep costs, warranty any extra given for part ex comes out of that 10k.
But.... at present its pretty slim pickings out there for dealers, so if the car has been there a while there may be a deal to be had.
