I was just looking at my tyres today, front are good average just over 6mm, while rear are at ~3mm. As I run my car all through the winter I'm not sure if I should get new rears now or wait until the spring. I dropped the idea of winter tyres as I will use 4x4 if weather outlook is rough and expect I'll cover 2-3K over the winter. I guess if I have a bad experience I will change ASAP, but just wondered what other folks did as this is my first set from new?

Thanks
Pete

I just replaced my rears. I went through a few alternative brands like Hankook, Nexen and Falken. All as good, if not better smile , than some of the tried and tested brands. There will be plenty on here that will assure you their amazing driving skills can tell the difference though biglaugh

How I do it with all my cars: Tyres never older than 6 years, if rear ones have to be renewed, than only if the front ones are not more than two years older, otherwise I change all 4.
I am not driving with tyres less than 4 millimeters, too dangerous on wet roads with standing water.
Same type front and rear of course all the time ....

regards
Torsten

3mm through winter isnt much, I would change them.

Im running Yokohama, very pleased with them, available in the larger "S" sizes for the Vantage. Have previously run Yoko on other cars for years. Not tried them on track but fast road use in all weathers very good so far. Hopefully they will last at least as long as the OE Bridgestones

Before I put these on eBay I thought I'd offer them to the Aston community seeing as they came off my Vantage.

Having done a tour of France and Spanish mountains I needed new tyres so I fitted below. I then put car up for sale via a main dealer who insisted the tyres needed chaging as they were not the Aston approved versions. So these were on the car from my house to the dealer and returned a few weeks later with literally no more than 50 miles done.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4
2 x 255/35
2 X 295/30

They were c. £800 fitted. I am looking for £600.

I will run full winters in the winter, but I expect snow, and live in the Black Forest.
