In need of a battery maintainer/charger to leave permanently connected through the lighter socket in the boot of my DB9 and, having read (on this forum) that the Lidl chargers are actually as good/reliable as the Ctek ones, I wonder whether this Aldi one and the clamp/lighter adaptor I’ve found on eBay would work?

Or perhaps I should just spend an extra £70 and get the CTEK with the proper adaptor?!

Thanks both of you - to be clear, have you had the Aldi one or the Lidl one?

And have you used a similar cigarette lighter adaptor with it into the socket in the boot?

Thanks again!

I'm always one for a good deal but if you are going away for 2 weeks and leaving the car plugged in I'd want to know I'd be leaving the best 'tried and tested' charger on the market in place.

If I felt I needed to plug in a charger when leaving the car for just 2 weeks the first thing I'd do is buy a new battery.
I get the need for trickle chargers when a car is left for a long time, but do any modern Aston's need them for such a short period?

I'm sure it would fire after two weeks; with a charger I know it will. And there will not be 2000 'false' errors logged on the ECU. They are very sensitive to voltage drops... Also very advised if you have a Tracker.

I have the Lidl charger and it seems a good job, but I don't need it for the Aston, yet.

I have 4 of the Lidl ones . I haven't used one on the Aston as it was away in storage last winter whilst I extended the garage . But they work well on the other cars so don't see why the Aston should be any different .

Yes, they work perfectly. I have a CTEK as well and chop and change between them depending on which car is where on the drive.

Thanks for all the replies.

In the end I found a good deal on Amazon for a Ctek charger and cigarette-socket adaptor for £62 delivered so I went for that.

May well get an Aldi/Lidl one as well for other cars/toys.

Thanks again.

I have a few of these, work great! I actually soldered a CTEK plug onto the end of it and the just attached a CTEK socket to the battery on a flying lead to make it easier to plug in. Works a treat!
