New Vantage owner
Discussion
Hello everyone,
I have just bought my first Aston Martin Vantage 2006 V8 last weekend and joined this Forum.
The reason I bought this particular car apart from the condition and the 35,000 full dealership servicing, was that the clutch and just
been replaced, new discs and brakes all round and a new MOT.
Having got the car home 2 fault codes appeared, the first one was for a battery remote and the second for an emissions service.
I have read this Forum and both these faults appear to be easily rectified, but will need to buy a OBD2 reader to clear.
My question is which of the ports in the car do you plug the reader into, assuming I am sat in the car left or right?
Also I am thinking of buying a cheap reader to start with (Memoscan CAN OBD2) does anyone have experience of this reader, does
it work on a Vantage?
Thanks in advance.

Congrats on the new car and welcome
I have a 12 year old generic cheap reader off ebay that works fine to read and reset. OBD is a standard so should be fine. Pretty sure its the left port, maybe labelled if you have torch.
change battery and read/write down/reset the emissions error. See if it comes back.

If you upload pics to a sharing site like postimage and then copy the link for forums into your post there is no size limits.
Another technique when a picture is too big is to actually take a screenshot of said pic, the resulting one will be way smaller in terms of KB/MB.Anyway, welcome! I am interested too in the OBD port, since soon I will receive a reader too.
OP, had emissions up on mine shortly after purchase, both upstream lambdas faulty.. Bought correct parts off ebay for £120, then £40 at my TVR specialist for an hour up on one of his lifts (most of that letting it cool down), £160 total. Nearest AM dealer to me quoted over £500...... (I'm not a skinflint, but I though that was taking the pi**)

You can take it out - it won't dissolve!!

I know and have, but it's much less fun. Leads me to a question, my v12v came with pirelli corsa's installed. Not planning on tracking the car anytime soon. When it comes to new shoes what do people recommend for a more rounded all weather tyre?

Favourite with the TVR lads at the moment are rainsports, highly recommended by the lads that have them, but no idea about suitability for a Vantage I’m afraid..Buzz Killington said:

Michelin PS4S. Nearly as good as the Corsas in warm dry conditions and superb in the cold/damp/wet when the Corsas are "interesting"!Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
