Took my wing mirror off today to get it cleaned up and powder coated. I pretty much followed the excellent post here https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/aston-martin/4...

One head scratcher was how to remove the mirror arm mount from the quarter light upright, which doubles as the window slider and wasn’t in the above.

Eventually I figured out that by sliding the rubber channel up and off the upright, I found a hidden torx bolt. It’s a bvgger to get out, patience and a steady hand are your friend.

Make sure you don’t let it drop down into the cavity...

It’s nr 6 on the pic

Worth pointing out that there are 4 aluminium parts that will probably need sorting out. The main arm, the two caps underneath and finally a round bit that sits under the mirror cap. Not seen any mention of the last bit in the threads I’ve read.

I managed to damage one of the three famous torx bolts on the mirror arm. They’re all the same, however they don’t show up on the Aston parts diagram. Anyone happen to know the size/part number/where to get one ?

Cheers

Jonny

Thanks Steve - wish I’d seen that, would have saved me a few mins waggling the mirror arm.

All nicely powder coated and at the re-installation stage. One qustion is regarding fitting the quarter glass.

Does this go into the rubber channel/seal firstand then insert the rubber into the frame channel ? Can also anticipate getting the rubber vertical seal back down into the vertical pright, but anticipating silicon being my friend here.

Any tips gratefully received !
