I am sure others have noticed the issues with rock chips down the side of the car on the new Vantage. Is anyone aware of a solution to prevent the amount of debris from being picked up from the front tires throw at the side of the car? This is a significant problem with these cars. I have seen many Vantages which don’t even have 1k miles on them with significant rock chips in the paint.

Does a splash guard solution exist for these cars? The previous Vantage had them. Please comment and let me know. Would also be interested in finding a manufacturer to produce a set for this car if they don’t already exist.

My car has really suffered badly from this, both on the sides and front. There is protective film on the sides and my dealer told me that newer models have more protective film than early models.
Mine has been so bad that I considered it to be defective paint application and AM have agreed and are respraying the affected areas.

Given that on mine the whole front of the car was affected I do think that poor paint application may be the underlying problem as my V12V has four times the mileage on and has far fewer stone chips.

As I’ve never seen another new V8 vantage out in the wild, I have nothing to compare to understand if mine is worse or normal.

Do you think the muddy material is being thrown from the tyre along the sill, or is it higher up and perhaps coming through the 'gills'?

It could be either but I suspect it is coming directly from the tire where the tire sticks out past the fender, this is a common problem on a number of other vehicles. It is just very odd Aston Martin does not offer a solution our provide PPF on rear quarter panel where the damage is occurring.

I am a bit surprised no one thinks this is an issue or has noticed the issue on their cars. We are in for many tatty vantages on the used market.

I think the solution is PPF - once mine comes back from the dealer I am considering having the sides and front covered with PPF. I do think that the problem is also down to poor paint application/prep as the front of mine has significant paint chips - none of my previous AMs suffered as badly (nor any other car I've ever had)

My car was recently PPFed and I am noticing the rocks off the front tires are hitting with such force that after maybe 5-6 drives on normal roads the PPF is already getting impact marks with possible penetration. Porsche and other manufacturers have very small fender guards to help with this issue or there are aftermarket solutions

It's quite obvious that the designer of the lower front fender put form (aka looks) way over function.

At least one would expect a "dirt road" button, which folds out a hidden protective device on demand.

This is a common problem on many performance vehicles and very easily remedied.

Wow, so even PPF may not be the solution. What type of PPF did you have applied? Was it the self healing stuff - be interested to get more of your thoughts on this as my car is due back in about 3 weeks and hence I've been considering PPF to avoid a repeat of the problem but clearly don't want to waste money. Thanks

I had PPF on a Porsche 911 complete front and lower rear wings, the original Porsche protection on the lower rear wing was replaced by the PPF.

Stones just hammered the way into the lower rear wing section most self healed but there was a few that went right through it.

There were a couple of indents on the bonnet you cannot paint over them, so I did really wonder was it worth the money.

I have Llumar Platinum PPF, same manufacturer/film as Suntek. The thickness and clarity both seem exceptional but displeased about what I am seeing in this rear quarter panel zone and the stone impacts. We really need to find a stone guard solution for these cars.

This is my car - you can see where the factory PPF is and whilst it's not as bad as the other areas where there is no PPF, it still looks terrible and is very rough to the touch. AM told me that they now put a larger piece of PPF on the rear panel to help with this but my concern is that the PPF that is on already is completely shot, hence I don't want to pay for more PPF if it's just going to end up like this. Might be difficult to see on the forum but on high res and zoomed in the stone chips are really bad - in fact I've never seen stone chips as bad on any other car I've owned.

Does anyone know what type of PPF AM apply from the factory? If this has self healing properties then I think it would need biblical resurrection properties to make it look any good!

Car has done about 5,000 miles now but these stone chips appeared with less than 2,000 miles on the clock!

Same issue here, 800 miles on the clock and PPF which is now being penetrated. This is a significant problem.
