Hi All
I have evidence of rodents in the engine bay of one of my cars. I recall a thread on here where someone (in Switzerland’s or German, I think) posted on their outdoor cover and said that they used a really good rodent spray.
I can’t find the thread though - so, if anyone can help with the thread - or just a recommendation for a really good spray, I would be very grateful.
Thanks v much.

I always have a couple of plates containing - you know what - on the floors of my garages.
If any of the - YKW - has been eaten (very rare, but it is most likely to occur at the onset of winter), then they probably won't be back for more.
On the floor under the Aston engine bay, I have a plastic plate containing a cloth soaked in peppermint oil.
Supposedly, mice do not like peppermint. Whether that is true, I don't know.
The method has worked so far.

It could be Dean’s thread, I am not sure. Could be one of mine, could be unrelated. I am in that part of the world, and recommend this:I have evidence of rodents in the engine bay of one of my cars. A few neighbours and family use it and swear by it out here.
I’ve had a problem with mice in my Alfa this year. I’ve caught 14 now inside the car with glue boards. Think I’ve sorted it now. Fingers crossed.
The Alfa is outside and my Vantage inside. Nothing in the Aston.
However last night I swapped the cars over to do a job on the Alfa. As a precaution I put a glue board under the Aston on the drive and sure enough caught a mouse!
I’ve tried all the sprays and peppermint etc but if they fancy moving in it’s very hard to stop them. However glue boards are great,if a little cruel but needs must

Here is an excerpt circa 2016 from my "Tales of a V8V (illustrated)" thread...
"Turns out there are small beasties in Switzerland called Marder (Pine Marten) which have a taste for rubber and plastic and apparently do millions of dollars of damage to cars in Europe annually. I’d never heard of them, but they like brake sensors on a V8 Vantage it seems. The nice folks at the dealership replaced these for me free of charge!
The next issue was how to prevent repeat offenders, and happily cans of Anti-Marder spray can be obtained easily and sprayed around the underside areas of the car it should keep the vicious little sons of un-married mothers away. However, don’t spray this stuff around too liberally, as a side effect seems to be squeaky brakes! I know squeaky brakes is a habitual problem with these vehicles, but mine has only done it on two occasions and that was for a few days after the first two times I sprayed around the wheels, and not since, as now I am a lot more sniper-like with my application."

Subsequent to this, I now have a house with one of these little guys living in the attic, and other than the occasional poo and the sounds of little footsteps, he has stayed away from the cars.

This winter I have an issue with mice in the garage. In the past there has always been one or two but they never seemed to damage anything. This year they have been into the aston sub frame. I know because there was a small pile of foam underneath and next to each wheel. Why aston use such a basic rodent attractive material I will never know.
There only solution has been good old spring traps and some poison bags all purchased from Wickes. Some nights get 2-3 in the traps some nights narda.
Don't really want to kill em but they are causing damage this year so the fight is on.
I think a can of the spray stuff will be useful as well as that sprayed on the underside of the car may deter them from at least chewing stuff under there

If you cant use ultrasonic devices that connect to your battery, try peppermint oil...saturate cotton balls palce in engine compartment. We let it naturally grow on one of our properties around the garage and house area. Smells good, rodents hate it and wont go around it.
moth balls work too..dont smell as nice tho.
good luck!
