it might be that you're connected to the wrong OBD port there's one for the engine/drive train and one fot eh body/chassis.
there's some guidance here on OBD ports and readers

we used 2 different late model SnapOn scanners on our DB9, identifying our car to be a Volvo XC90 as suggested
it identified our vin# but would not clear the message. it showed a code 0095 and referred to third row seats?

Could be that it requires AMDS system - which is main dealer only.

I'd be interested to know more about these Foxwell units. What do they do above and beyond a generic £10 reader when loaded with the AM software?

have a look at scantools direct website for the nt520 ,it shows a list of the modules and AM models covered, it looks like theyve "obtained" some AM software from somewhere. does far more than a generic obd reader that you have to trick into thinking its another car, goes straight into ,engine , trans , doors , seats , climate , brakes, headlamps plus dozens more that wouldnt even appear with obdII.
after a bad battery episode my car had loads of codes i couldnt touch until i got an nt520 , cleared them all no problem,

Are there any interesting settings or diagnostics the NT520 can take a look into or is it just a case of clearing pesky fault codes? I've got the same SRS airbag one as OP after refitting my seats

The Foxwell NT530 is a firmware and software upgrade of the NT 530 and is generally available in UK for around £122.50. Try https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/362846953750?chn=ps&n...
When mine arrived I was rather disconcerted to find that it came with no installed software whatsoever, despite my having paid for the Aston Martin version. Also no warranty card was included,
The secret is to go to the www.foxwelltech.us website. Register the serial no, give an email address (no fancy private domains) and download and run the FoxAssist setup program (not Windows XT). You'll be able to select Aston Martin and download all the relevant software packages into the scanner after connecting it to the computer by the USB lead supplied.
This is as far as I've got - I'll see what's revealed from my V8V after the Christmas fuss has died down.
