Good showing for Aston at COTA
Discussion
The WEC held a 6 hour race at Circuit of the Americas yesterday and the Astons were there in full force and had a great result.
GTE pro class had the pair of of cars running up front for most of the day . One of the pro cars faded a bit at the end , They managed first and fourth in that class.
The GTE amature class had another pair fighting for the podium all day with a first place finish in that class as well. They deffinatly had the edge on the competition on this day. It was great to see them so dominate here in the states for a change.

The factory team showed up with three cars. Two were entered in GTLM Pro and one was entered in GTLM AM. There was a fourth car as well, but did not seem to be a factory car, it was enetered in the GTLM Am class.
The pro class was up against the two factory Porsche RSR's as well as the factory Ferrari and the factory Corvette C8. From the get go the two factory Astons held the lead and pretty much had the measure of the field. One of the P cars and the F car slotted in to third and fourth for the first 4 hours or so. I am not sure what happened to one of the factory cars that let him slip to fourth. They both ran a steady pace and stayed out trouble for the full 6 hours and finished 1 and 4.
The amature class was another story with the two Astons running up front and battled back and forth for the top spot for the entire race. In this class these cars were running against a field of Ferrari and Porsche cars and pretty much ran out front for the entire 6 hours as well. It was really nice at the end of 6 hours to see two Astons on the podium holding first place trophys for each class, with the cars staged for all to see.
I think for the average US enthusiast that this was an eye opener to acknowledge the brand , as it is not that common for us to see them, especially running out front . I am sure that most folks in the stands were pulling for the factory corvette and probably did not give the Astons much of a chance.
The local dealer here in Austin also rolled out a fair number of cars to display at the venue . I was glad to see them make the effort to help promote the brand as well.
I figured you guys across the pond would enjoy the update from Texas.

Exciting race at COTA on Sunday night (7 hour coverage on main TV was not universally popular at home
)
2nd dry victory for Dane Train on the bounce as I've just caught up with 8 Hours of Bahrain as had a free Monday night (possibly the longest you tube video I've ever watched) on FIAWEC youtube channel. Full COTA race should be up soon
Highlights are up now

Marco Sorensen and Nicki Thiim are leading Drivers Chapionship and AM in manufacturers. https://www.fiawec.com/en/season/result/4132
