Gear display position not available?

Hello, my 2008 Aston Martin V8 Vantage battery went dead and after I replaced it I got a "gear display position not available" message, so the car will not go into neutral (sportshift) and will not start. I have tried using the paddles, pushing the gear buttons, resetting the battery saver mode, checked all the fuses on the trunk fuse box, and even opened the gas cap. Does anybody knows what the problem is?

Try locking it, leaving 30 seconds or so and thrn unlocking, do this a few times and see if it re-sets anything

Your new battery could of sat on the shelf for some time so what to do is to plug in the battery conditioner, leave it overnight and see what happens in the morning.

It's happened to me with my DB9 and next day no issues at all.

Although this thread is from 2020, what was the "fix"?. The same thing happened to me after filling with petrol (DB9 08 model). Had to call for recovery. Problem could not be fixed at the filling station. All fuses checked ok, tried to start using AA jump leads direct on to battery. I've read other threads on this error and it seems really random with no clear fix. One such thread pointed to Relay 4 in the boot fuse box. I've checked it with a multimeter and it seems ok.
