Hi all, I have a V12 Vantage and Im looking to buy a low entry trolley jack and the one i am looking at is 2.5 Tons and has a closed height of 75mm, does anyone know if this is low enough. There is also a 3 Ton lift jack but that has a closed height of 98mm, is that low enough ot too high?

Given that i will be buying the adapter pads too to sit on the trolley jack that all has to be taken into consideration.

Anyone have any info, ideas, reasons i should or shouldnt buy any or either of them?

SGS aluminium low entry jack. Approx £120 on eBay and get Steve’s jacking point pads - Cav.mar1 on eBay.

A few of us on here have that combo and makes life very easy.

Also worth getting decent axle stands and again use Steve’s axle stand pads which prevent metal to metal contact when supporting the car.

Halfords ones are fine.

Yes SGS Engineering are the ones i have been looking at, the one you mention, is that the 75mm lowest point or the 98mm?

Thanks for your info.

Mines the aluminium racing jack - entry is I think 100mm and I have no issues with the jack, rubber pad and jacking point puck.

Measure your car though and see what the total floor to underside of sill measurement is.

I’m on a V8V

You may also need some Rubber Jacking Pads that use your existing Jacking points. Best be safe then sorry

My trolley jack is 85mm, and with David Ramsbotham`s jacking pads & my V8V which should be the standard height, it is not an issue particularly if you locate the pad in the car first, which allowing for the locating pin being already in the car body there is only 20-25mm to spare, otherwise it`s about 3mm clearance.

Have a thin sheet of ply to base jack on as drive is block pavers - as this reduced the gap I have another slightly thicker sheet of ply to roll wheel to be lifted on to increase gap for jack and pad

The challenge is that the jacking point and the place where you need to put am axle stand are the same place. The only way I managed to work around that was to use a Jackpoint jackstand, which is ridiculously simple but needed importing directly from the manufacturer in the US. Perhaps by now they have a UK distributor.

I have no affiliation with the company, I just really like the product.

I have the machine mart Clarke one. It's fine, does the job at a cheap price.

I picked up the Clarke CTJ2250LP there as well - under £50, comes with sockets and arm to under the nuts, looks pretty good!
It is only 2.25 tonne - not sure if the V12 Vantage needs more than that?

I jacked the car in the middle and then placed a stand front & back.

Does anyone know if jacking the Vantage up in the middle of the sill is OK or do you know any different, Ive looked in the Owners manual and its pretty useless in telling you how toy get it up on any stands.

Ah-ha! Good point. Mine's a V12VS. I've a feeling the sills wrap deeper underneath so you can't access that same structural member.

Mines a V12S and I still jacked in the middle.
Remove the centre torx fixing and jack with using a rubber pad.
I had no issues.
