V8 Vantage manual roof operation/reset
Discussion
I am hoping someone may be able to help.
The roof on 2014 V8 Vantage roadster will not work - I get the “Roof failure detected” message when trying to operate it.
I am pretty sure that it is the tonneau release that is not working - the roof raises and there is then a click as the tonneau cover tries to unlatch, then the error message appears. I have tried the window reset etc to no avail
I therefore thought I would manually lower the roof as set out in the handbook. This is where the problem arises - the tonneau latch does not disengage so the handbook says to pull the the manual releases located in the battery compartment behind the drivers seat. There are two cords to pull - one is fine but the other is snapped off (and also has tape around bits of it etc so has obviously been bodged by the previous owner - I have only had the car for 8 weeks). I therefore cannot get the tonneau cover to unlatch so cannot put the roof down manually
Does anyone have any ideas how to work around this.? The obvious solution would be to take it back to the main dealer to sort out under warranty but that is not possible at the moment of course.
Many thanks in advance.

I had exactly the same problem with my roadster last year.
Spoke to Mcgurks who I bought it from and they sorted it, think it was the tonneau release catch.
Drove it 150 miles with the roof off for them to sort on a reasonably nice day with a woolly hat on, luckily service was due.
Give them a ring they are very helpful and accepting calls.
