Hi there. I recently had a new dual plate clutch and lightened flywheel installed on my V8V. All is wonderful - a huge improvement! However, I noticed that the exhausts aren't doing the flap thing (they worked before the clutch installation).

Looking under the car, I see that the main feed from the vacuum is hanging loose. it's fine at both butterfly valve ends, so its the other end - a single pipe that must go into a vacuum. As we are in these times, I don't want to have to drive for an hr each way to have it reattached. So, my question is, where is the vacuum module/part under the car? Do I have to remove the under tray to get at it?

Does anyone have any ideas, or better still, a photograph of its location?

And help would be greater appreciated....

James

Hi James - offside rear wheel arch. You'll need to take off the wheel and liner and it's at the back there. A black Ford jobby slightly bigger than a tin of beans. You'll see the pipe if it's come off and it should just pop back on again.

Thank you Johnny - really appreciated - I'm with a left hand drive car, so I presume you mean the Passenger side then? ie, when looking from the back of the car, the right hand side?

Looking at the back of the car on a right hooker, my unit is on the right hand side.

Just nipped our to the garage and taken some pics as below.

There’s a few pipes that could have got dislodged. None are rocket science to re-attach.

The unit is at the rear of the wheel arch liner, so you may be lucky and just be able to undo the rear screws and pull the liner forward. My liner is off so tricky to replicate.

Hi James - came across this in my Lockdown boredom alleviation - shows a left hooker vacuum system with liner removed and exhaust in place. Go to the last page.

Might be some help. Looks like the liner does have to come off to obviate the exhaust being in the way.

Cheers
