Hi guys, my 2012 vantage S seat won't move all the way forward - it stops about half way. There's a definite electrical "click" which suggests to me that it thinks it's reached the end of the seat runner travel even though it hasn't.

There's nothing fouling anywhere which makes me think that it's a calibration issue. That and the seat back doesn't automatically adjust as it comes into contact with the alumiium cross rail at the rear.

The calibration procedure doesn't work. I've followed the videos etc and there's no change.

Does anyone have a solution?

Anybody?

I'm aware that there are at least two different calibration procedures as the Rapide has a different method.
I'm assuming then taht there must be a third method for the facelift 4.7 cars... surely someone must know what it is?

Try disconnecting the battery completely, leaving it a couple of minutes and reconnecting, this should make everything go into calibration mode.

Check the other seat to see if you hear a click when at the end of the travel. Is it the same kind of click as when you hold the windows up for a couple of seconds after they are already fully open?
If so I would be suspicious still of some kind of physical issue causing a thermic trip switch (or equivelent) to stop the seat.
As the later cars have battery back up independant of the main battery I think they are more a dealer programming thing as it is much less likely needed?
Also if you have 2 keys, try the one you havnt been using.
Just trying to help but no expert so beware....

I've tried disconnecting the battery, no joy.

It's clicking as if it believes it is at the end of its travel.

I am contemplating putting power direct to the motor to manually wind the seat forward.

Where is the secondary battery backup? I've not heard mention of one before... I know mercs etc have them but I didn't realise the vantage did.

Can you easily swap the switches over to check if it's switch or module related ?

It's definitely module related - it's out of calibration.

The switches are fine as it does move.

I just wish I could find out how to calibrate it. If there's a proc for the early Vantage/DB9 etc and a different proc for the rapide, it stands to reason there's a proc for the 2012 on Vantage.

Emilio, the photos aren't displaying for me, could you try in a different format or email them to me please?
EDIT: I can see them now, thank you.

It's now become strange. I tried disconnecting the battery whilst the interior light was still on as per a manual I found for another AM.
Initially none of the buttons worked, then the backrest and squab heights worked and with much greater range than before.. but now the front/rear button operation is inverted and it will only go from the mid point at which it previously stopped all the way to the front of the rails...

Well, my seat issue seems to be sorted!

There were a number of issues but essentially the seat fore/aft button worked in reverse and the range was roughly half what it should be. First it wouldn'y move forward far enough and then it wouldn move rearward far enough, also the backrest auto adjustment had a mind of its own.

I removed the seat (again!) and stripped the fore aft motor and wound the seat through its entire range to confirm there wasn't a mechanical issue.
I noticed an electrical plugr attached to the inner rail with a piece of metal also attached to the inner rail that the passenger seat did not have. I reasoned that the piece of metal and plug were probably some kind of limit switch.

I removed these and refitted the seat.

I carried out the battery disconnect procedure.

The calibration procedure didn't work.

I got mildly frustrated and moved the seat to all the limits it would actually run to... and then, hey presto! it worked!

Full seat range, memory functions etc.

I'm at a loss as to why there was a range limiting switch fitted though...
