BP Having a Laugh

Went to fill up yesterday at local BP station for first time in about 3 months due to lock down.

Used the BPme App to pay for fuel. Works well so credit for that.

Then noticed that while the diet stuff was at £1.13 per Litre the full fat was £1.44!!!... What's that all about?

If you wish, try ESSO 'full fat'.
In some parts of the UK, it is ethonol free.
Don't know the price though.

Some garages are much cheaper for Super. My theory is that the more expensive places bought it in at pre-Covid prices and are trying to sell it off without losing money. If that's the case, I do wonder whether it will have gone off by now (or at least lost the extra potency) so I'm travelling to find the cheap stuff. It's not always up to date but petrolprices.com can help to track the cheaper options down.

Most likely this, bought in at pre-decrease prices.

ESSO is what I use. I think their premium stuff is ethanol-free in all areas of the UK, other than Teesside, Devon and Cornwall. Why that is I have no idea.

Use Tesco 99 - £1.08 at my last two fill-ups - only about 8p - 10p premium over 95RON

Sainsburys very similar:

Full Fat = 106.9p

Low Fat = 99.9p

Yep, agree. I even have a petrol card from my company, so only pay the tax. Just don't like people taking the proverbial.

Here in Italy, Q8 100 octanes was 1.69€ instead of the usual 1.90-ish last time I refuelled (early May).

BP around here have always been more expensive and I avoid them, not because I'm 'tight' but why should they be able to charge what equates to last time I looked almost 40p per gallon more? It's taking the piss. (Same story pre-covid).

99.7p for regular at my local Morrisons, same as the nearby Asda. I don't bother with super.

The Shell garage near me (a big one) is charging £1.29 for regular unleaded. Nice.

If drivers pay it, they will charge it. I would say the majority of drivers just moan about the price but do not shop around and just go to the most convenient garage. Texaco here in Surrey are WAY more expensive than Morrisons, about 20p per litre but still the Texaco have queues just like anywhere else.

They are selling convenience, just like vastly overpriced milk, bread and chocolate. I do the extra 4 miles to Morrisons because I always fill from almost empty to full, whereas a lot I see just put a tenner or twenty quid in. Then its not worth the travel to shop around.

Tesco Momentum is 99 Ron and pretty cheap, the BP stuff is 97, which if you want is much cheaper in Sainsbury's
