I’m replacing the front bearing/hub assembly on my 30,000 mile 2009 V8V.

The bearings are fine, however it’s new discs and pads and caliper rebuild as part of my mission to make my car as good as I can.

I’d like to fit 11mm spacers and to retain the original titanium wheel nuts for my Sport Pack wheels, I need longer studs.

Can anyone point me in the direction of longer studs ? Got no issues with getting them pressed into new hubs, but want to make sure I have the correct thread.

Demon Tweeks are pretty good at that sort of thing.

Hi Johnny,

I have a MY2010 V8V with lightweight wheels and went down the path of spacers and lowering springs(APVelocity). It's not been a straight forward success. The H&R spacers(11F/23R) were originally for the DB9, they were used on early Vantages but they have slightly different offsets. (Early cars are about 4-5 mm more inboard.)

I think they stick out too far at a normal ride height.

With lowering they work a little better, but the extra leverage and weight is not beneficial to the handling and ride.

Whilst this set up might look cool, it was a mixed bag with better body control but a jiggly ride. It was also far too low at the front, scraping on everything and not having enough roll on the front axle compared to the rear.

I don't have a solution for you yet, i'm still playing with it. I have put a front coil spacer on the front, to lift it back up 10mm and am currently running without the wheel spacers. I may use the 11mm on the rear or go for the later rear wheels which are wider, meaning the come out and go in more but the fronts are the same.

I would council taking it slow and trying the spacers with the threaded nuts before going to the effort of repressing the hubs.

Thread hijack...

I'm just fitting coilovers to mine and run the wider 20" Virage alloys
First look yesterday gave me a 15mm drop at the front which I thought was a bit much so have lifted 5mm
I'm guessing the AP springs lower more than 10mm?

Yes, way more. APVelocity predicted 20-22mm but that was wrong.

I fitted new tyres at the same time so not exact apples to apples.

But 29mm drop measured, at front moving from used 235/40 bridgestones to 245/40 Mich PS4S. I think the real drop was close to 35mm. I'm lifting it now to back towards 10-15mm. Work in progress.

Not too worried about dropping it any lower, my drive exit and speed bumps up the road put paid to that notion. Plus, the comments on lowering from BR are that it compromises ride quality.

I think all however are agreed that the wheels sit in too much as standard so just looking to improve the aesthetics a tad.

I've been on to the hub/bearing supplier and they only supply the unit with bog standard studs, so still need to source longer ones. Standard is 45mm, so 55 or 56 will be ideal.

I have the H&R 22mm spacers on the rear with the secondary studs and nuts. They work very well.

Having said all that - the stance with spacers and lowered does look uber cool !
